Located in Stony Brook, KAH Premium Physical Therapy P.C. is a privately owned physical therapy clinic whose goal is to provide an individualized physical therapy treatment and rehabilitation program to match a patient’s goals and lifestyle. The physical therapy treatment will consist of an individualized rehabilitation program that includes manual therapy, flexibility and stretching, strengthenin

g of appropriate musculature, functional training, balance/gait training, patient education, and a home exercise program as appropriate. The goal of physical therapy is to return patients to prior level of function and prevent re-injury through patient education and a home exercise program. At our facility you can expect to find friendly, professional, one-on-one attention from our three licensed physical therapists and courteous office staff. Meet our Therapists:
Kimberly A. Harris PT, DPT
Kimberly is the founder and president of KAH Premium Physical Therapy P.C. She has completed a Bachelors of Science in Health Studies at Boston University, 2005. Kimberly has also received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University in 2008. Upon graduation from Stony Brook, Kimberly became a full time staff physical therapist at a manually based outpatient clinic. In January 2011, Kimberly began working with children with disabilities in the Long Island public school districts. Currently, Kimberly is working in the pediatric and orthopedic physical therapy fields. She continues to sharpen her clinical expertise through continuing education courses in the manual therapy, orthopedic, pediatric, and sports related injury fields

Christopher Bahnken PT, DPT
Christopher has received his clinical doctorate in physical therapy from the School of Health, Technology and Management at Stony Brook University. His undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Rutgers University. He has practiced in an outpatient orthopedic setting for 6+ years, focusing on manual therapy treatment for all orthopedic diagnoses. He has also continued his professional education with continuing education courses that include "Recent Advances in the Evaluation and Treatment of the Shoulder" through Northeast Seminars (2008), "Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation I" (2009), "Functional Orthopedics I" (2010), "Functional Mobilization for the Lower Quadrant" (2012) and "Visceral Functional Mobilization" (2013) through The Institute of Physical Art, and "Selected Thoracic, Lumbar and SI Joint Thrust Manipulation Techniques & Their Use in Contemporary Orthopedic Physical Therapy Practice" (2010) through the NYPTA. Christopher has also been a clinical instructor for interns from Stony Brook University's Doctor of Physical Therapy program to assist in teaching and training future physical therapists in the field.

✅ Core Progression Exercises:

We have Chris demonstrating a couple of core variations and progression that are safe and easy to do at home!

1. Plank On Elbows - The easiest of the five exercises shown! Don’t let you hips rise with this movement.

2. Straight Arm Plank - Similar to the elbow plank, but with your arms outstretched! Challenges your core stability more so than the first movement!

3. Plank with Alternating Leg Lifts - Similar to the straight arm planks, but with movement added with the legs! Keep your back straight especially when lifting each leg into extension!

4. Leg Lifts with Abduction - Same as the leg lift but we’re kicking our leg out to the side!

5. Side Plank - Lastly, the most challenging of the variations as we change our base of support and challenges our lateral trunk stability in this position!
