Dear Sail Camp Families,

Our region’s emergence from Covid lockdowns happened on a time scale that left many of us excited to be able to offer Sail Camp! We launched planning in earnest, but well behind our normal schedule. An unfortunate result of this is that we received many fewer enrollments than we need to make Sail Camp 2022 happen.

It is thus with sadness that we have to cancel Sail Camp for 2022. Any registrations will be refunded (you should have received an email)

Please contact us if you or anyone else in your network is willing to join the effort to bring this amazing resource back for our youth sailors! (organizing, volunteering, coaching, etc). Sailcamp is run by volunteers and we need families with young kids to continue the tradition!

Dear SailCamp Families,

When we made the difficult decision to cancel SailCamp in 2020 none of us imagined that SailCamp 2021 would be at risk, but sadly, here we are.... Covid-19 is still infecting people at an alarming rate and we are looking to guidance from the professionals to determine if and how we could hold SailCamp in 2021. According to the CDC, SailCamp would fall into the highest risk category:

Highest Risk: Campers mix between groups and do not remain spaced apart. All campers are not from the local geographic area (e.g., community, town, city, or county).

The camp directors have carefully reviewed all aspects of camp (flag pole, meals, dock activities, sailing, crafts, bathrooms and tent areas). Our goal was to identify if and how each component of camp could be run safely given the resources we have available. Unfortunately, our conclusion at this point is that we could not realistically maintain the masking, spacing and hygiene that is necessary to protect campers, volunteers and staff.

We will revisit this decision on April 15 but barring any substantial change to the CDC guidance we don’t expect that SailCamp will be possible for 2021.

With much regret,
Your SailCamp Directors
Buster, David, Jen, Julie, and Mike

Dear Sailcamp Families:
The directors of Sailcamp are sad to announce that Sailcamp 2020 is officially being canceled. After monitoring the Covid-19 situation closely it has become clear that given the risks and restrictions around group gatherings we will not be able to operate safely. We are very disappointed especially since we were excited to celebrate Sailcamp's 30th year! Thank you to all our volunteers and junior instructors - please remember us for 2021! Campers we will miss you - hopefully you can find a way to get some sailing in this summer.
We are grateful for your support and understanding and can't wait to see you next year!
Thank you,
David Bussey/Buster Long/Julie Koontz/Mike & Jen Holden

Dear Sailcamp Families,

On behalf of the Stockton Sailing Club, Santa Cruz Yacht Club, Richmond Yacht Club and the whole Sailcamp team, we want to assure you that the care and safety of our kids and community is our top priority.

We are all hopeful that the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak will be behind us by June and that we will be able to hold the 30th year of Sailcamp this summer as scheduled (6/21-6/27). However, after careful thought, our directors have decided it is prudent to postpone registration for Sailcamp 2020. Registration will NOT be opening on April 1st.

We are closely monitoring and following the guidance from public health officials and government agencies so we can make informed assessments of the situation. We will meet again in April to confirm how best to proceed with the 2020 registration and camp. Additional information will be provided after that date and if camp is a "Go" registration will likely open on May 1st.

As hopeful as we are that Sailcamp can proceed as per usual, we believe that temporarily postponing our registration is the correct step at this juncture. We are grateful for your ongoing support and understanding in this situation.

Thank you,
David Bussey, Buster Long, Mike and Jen Holden, and Julie Koontz
