Well, it's shaping up to be a fantastic Fall season with schools of Stripers up and chasing bait all day! The Largemouth top-water bite is also in full swing for dual action. The pictures I chose to post, from 2 different trips, are definitely not the biggest fish we are catching, the reason I selected them was because both anglers had NEVER cast a fly rod or fly fished. One fish on top-water and one on a 285 grain Shooting head. From now until the end of November, it's an exciting time to get out and a really great time to get a beginner into the sport or work on your casting skills. I am offering a full day trip for 1 or 2 anglers for only 450.00 instead of the regular price of 550.00. Lots of things are so expensive right now, as we all know, maybe this will make it a bit more affordable and also basically pay for a night's stay at a hotel if you are traveling far or simply want to wake up a couple minutes from the ramp. I hope to meet some new clients, see some present clients and fill in a few dates. I will offer this discount until Sept. 16th just to get my calendar set, weekdays are nice if you can swing it, but weekends don't matter as much as far as crowds like on many of our rivers and streams, the Delta is huge and there are endless options as far as when and where we will fish. Fun day on the Delta yesterday with Bruce and Mark from Merced, it was their first experience Fly Fishing for Stripers and a new challenge getting the hang of casting sinking shooting heads. Lots of learning took place with stripping and strip setting, always a pleasure introducing anglers to new techniques and fisheries and I look forward to more trips with them in the future. Great day yesterday out on Putah Creek with Steve. After a nearly 25 yr. break from the sport, it was my pleasure reintroducing him to his former pastime. I noticed a flow change in the morning and adjusted location accordingly and his patience in learning my techniques paid off with several Rainbows landed along with this memorable beauty! Teaching fly fishing is what I love and the people and rewards still keep me as focused as ever, even after 40 yrs.
