Happy Fall Semester Stillwater Tennis Community!

The STA fall tennis season kicks off after Labor Day starting Mon, Sept 14th with our Monday and Thursday Fall Doubles Leagues. The Tues Singles League is on hiatus until the spring. In its place, we are considering offering Adult Tennis Clinics and a Junior Tennis League on Tuesdays if there is sufficient interest.

Our STA Fall Youth Tennis Clinic begins on Sat, Sept 19th.

We will be holding our STA Annual Membership meeting & Holiday Pizza Party on Tues, Nov 17th at the Hideaway. Everyone with an interest in tennis is invited to attend to connect up and talk about what's happening within the Stillwater tennis community.

STA YOUTH TENNIS CLINIC
The STA will again be holding our annual Fall Youth Tennis Clinics for juniors ages 6+ at Couch Park offering tennis instruction for junior players to learn or improve their tennis game starting SATURDAY, Sept 19th on a weekly basis for 5 weeks. Two sessions will be held grouped by age: 6 to 8 yrs - 9:00 to 10:00 am, 9+ yrs 10:00 to 11:00 am.

Enrollment fee is $50 for 5 weeks including a free t-shirt. To sign up please fill out the online form on our website at https://www.stillwatertennis.org/leagues-tournaments-clinics

Registration confirmations will be sent out as entries are received.

STA Adult Tennis Clinics
Weekly adult tennis clinics for beginners may be offered on Tuesday evenings at Couch Park if there is sufficient interest. If you are interested in participating, please email [email protected] to let us know.

STA Junior Tennis League
A weekly junior tennis league is being considered on Tuesday evenings at Couch Park if there is sufficient interest. Please email [email protected] if you would like to enter your child into the league.

STA Holiday Pizza Party & Annual Meeting
We will be holding our annual STA Membership meeting at the end of the fall season on Tuesday, Nov 17th at the Hideaway 6:00 pm. Everyone in the Stillwater tennis community is invited to attend this social gathering where we will be providing free pizza. In addition to covering STA business, an update on the status of city tennis facilities will be discussed.

2026 STA Summer Doubles Tournament Results

Dear STA Fuzzballers,

We had a great day of doubles competition with 15 teams competing in our tournament this year. We were greeted with wet tennis courts but an early bird troop of us were able to sop up and blow dry the unwelcome H2O away to get the tournament started with only a 30 minute delay. The good news was the cool temperatures for the 1st round of matches before soaring to the mid 90's when we wrapped up the finals & 3rd place matches around 1:30 pm.

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the tournament a success - Tent & Water Cooler Master Jeff Hadwiger, Luncheon Master Janet Stewart & Suzanne Collier, Watermelon Harvester Asya Dosev, Ping Pong Supplier John Nash and Water Cooler Will Wiggins. Hopefully all were happy with the soothing 70's tunes playlist from yours truly.

Because we only had four courts to work with, all matches were limited to 1 set no ad with a 7-point tiebreaker for all the matches until the finals. This year we split the field of entries into two flights A & B based on player ability and ran a full double elimination draw for each flight to decide a true 3rd place.

The tournament results show most matches were quite competitive with many going the distance decided by a tie-breaker. I would say this was one of the best tournaments we have run. I hope everyone had a great time. Congratulations to the winners of the championship & 3rd place matches.

Stillwater High School Girls & Boys Tennis Teams Tie for 6th Place at the 2026 Oklahoma State Tennis 6A Tournaments

Congratulations to the Girls and Boys Pioneer Tennis Teams for placing 6th at the 2026 Oklahoma State 6A Tennis Tournament held for the Girls on May 8 & 9th and for the Boys on May 15 & 16th.

All members of the girl's team qualified at regionals to compete at state with Cate Beck @ #1 Singles, Stella Dzialowski 8th Seed @ #2 Singles, Kori Gallegos & Ella Vaughn 4th Seed @ #1 Doubles and Kathy Liu & Julia Blake 3rd Seed @ #2 Doubles. The team put up 13 team points to tie for 6th place with Edmond North. Bixby was crowned state champion with 36 points far ahead of runner up Edmond Memorial with 23 points.

Some standout results from the Girl Pioneers included:

#1 Doubles Gallegos/Vaughn losing to #1 seed Bixby in the semifinals and #3 seed Edmond Memorial to finish in 4th place

#2 Doubles Blake/Liu losing to #2 seed Edmond Memorial in the semifinals but drubbing #4 seed Yukon to take 3rd place

#2 Singles Dzialowski losing to #1 seed Broken Arrow in the quarterfinals, then beating Bartlesville, losing to Edmond North & slamming Union in consolations to finish in 7th place

The boy's team comprised of Cody Jameson @ #1 Singles, Max Menne @ #2 Singles, Alex Dosev & Jesse McKee 6th seed @ #1 Doubles and Tucker Bruce & Ben Li @ #2 Doubles. The team tied for 6th place with Edmond Memorial crowned state champions followed by a tie at runner up between Bixby & Bishop McGuiness.

The standout boys performance came from senior Alex Dosev & junior Jesse McKee upsetting #3 seed Edmond Santa Fe & #4 seed Bixby to take 3rd place after falling in the semifinals to the eventual state champion #2 seed Yukon.

Special congratulations go out to seniors Kathy Liu & Alex Dosev for their stellar Pioneer tennis careers and to junior Jesse McKee for coming up clutch for the second year in a row.

To become a STA Member, a yearly membership fee is collected which is good for a calendar year (Jan-Dec). The membership fee goes toward paying for STA operating expenses; contributions to STA programs including our youth tennis clinic and tennis tournaments; and charitable donations including the SHS Tennis program and the City of Stillwater in the form of court maintenance & equipment.

To add your name to the substitute roster that league coordinators will use to fill match openings, please fill out the substitute player sign up form found just below the weekly league entry form. There will no longer be a fee to register as a substitute player.

We are now able to accept several forms of payment with the preferred method being Zelle which is a bank supported digital payment processing platform that does not charge a processing fee. Check your online banking app or your bank branch to see if Zelle is supported.

Spring has sprung and with it, another 8 weeks of STA Spring Leagues begin the week of March 23rd on Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays. Information and entry form for the three weekly leagues can be found on our website at https://www.stillwatertennis.org/leagues-tournaments-clinics

SPRING TENNIS NEWS:

Just a short note that STA Spring Leagues on Monday, Tuesday & Thursdays will begin the week after OSU Spring Break. We will be posting a new registration and entry fee procedure on our website in the coming days.

Also with the SHS Pioneer and Junior High Tennis teams beginning their spring seasons, Coach Chance Sistrunk is looking for drivers to transport high school and junior high teams to out of town matches in the first two weeks in March. The dates drivers are needed: March 4, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 13.

New Years G'day Stillwater Tennis Fuzzballers,

As you hunker down this frigid evening hopefully enjoying the matches down under in Australia, just wanted to let you know that tennis is still alive and well in Stillwater as well.

Your #10 ranked OSU Cowgirl Tennis team take on #4 ranked Auburn in their home opener this coming Friday Jan 30th at 5:00 pm @ Greenwood Tennis Center. Let's welcome new head coach Sergey Avdeyev, assistant coach Maggie Kane and the team with a big turnout for this early season top ten dual.

Meet the Team Event Thurs. Jan. 8th @ Greenwood Tennis Center, OSU Campus

We are excited to announce the return of the “Meet the Team” event this coming January 8th at 5:30pm!

This will be an opportunity to meet our Cowgirls and Cowboys after they are introduced, along with the staff, and then enjoy pizza and an open practice where you will have the ability to be court level with the players.

No RSVP will be needed, it will be open to the public, and we cannot wait to share time and a practice session with all of you!
