The best people I have ever trained with. Our 150th belt test is concluded, the dojo is cleaned out, our special needs class has graduated with Blackbelts, my spiritual son has been promoted to Shodan.

I am well with my choice, this was the best and most honorable thing we could do and if I had it to do all over again, sure there is many things I would change. But I would not have gave up on my goals. We had a room full great people, lots of love and respect.

I was not ready to put on that belt, open those doors and tell people how to conquer fear. The old saying a student who teaches learns twice. As we close this first book, page and cover. I realize that the whole enterprise was one long class to teach me the difference between love and attachment.

If I lived to be one thousand years old, I could not thank you all enough, students. Parents, staff. I’m ready for the last four classes.

📣 Important Announcement from True Power Martial Arts Academy 🥋

After 25 years of serving Stillwater, it’s time for us to take our final bow. True Power Martial Arts Academy will be closing its doors, including our free community martial arts program and women’s self-defense classes. At this time, there are no plans to reopen.

This decision has not been easy. Due to health concerns, Sensei Scott can no longer run the dojo with the level of dedication and energy he has always given. True Power has never been “just” a martial arts school—it has been a family, a home, and a place where countless lives have grown stronger.

💬 “This isn’t just a building closing,” Scott shared. “It’s every student who walked in nervous and walked out stronger. It’s every laugh, every breakthrough, every moment of growth. True Power has been my family.”

One of our greatest joys has been working with Empower and their incredible adults with special needs. Their perseverance, joy, and determination brought light to our dojo and reminded us every day that martial arts is truly for everyone.

To each student, parent, volunteer, and supporter—thank you. Thank you for trusting us, standing by us, and allowing us to be part of your lives. The legacy we built together won’t fade. It lives on through every lesson learned, every act of confidence shown, and every bond formed on our mats.
