A little late posting but 5 hours of fishing on the breeches on Wednesday netted around 15 trout. Lots of hits missed as the takes were very subtle. I’m sure the morning drizzle and cold didn’t help the bite but once it warmed it it took off. Unfortunately had to leave a little early in the evening or else I think we would have hooked a lot more. Eggstacy egg and thread frenchie of course were the flies of the day, with the white death mini streamer picking up a few fish on the swing as well!

After a tough day, sometimes you have to sit down, and take in what’s around you. It’ll makes all the difference.

Beautiful stocked brookie on the mini streamer. In pressured creeks, the mini white death straight up produces!

Back to trout flies! On the vise today is some Iron Lotus. This pattern, pioneered by one of my favorites Lance Egan, is meant to imitate a mayfly nymph, specifically the baetis. I’ve had good luck with this over winter months and early in the year when the water is less that 60 degrees.

Crappie jigs? I’ve never tied any before but Re*****on requested some so I decided to give it a go with what I had on hand. They ended up working great for him with some good fish! So I guess now I can add these to the “able to tie” list!

A little small stream brookie. Rems really into netting by himself lately, didn’t realize I had it in my hand! Our natural thread frenchie is really putting in the work lately!

Great bow from today on muddy creek. Of course gotta post the release video. Absolutely love how quickly it disappears between the rocks and in the current.

Great day on muddy creek. The first hole of the day gave me a trifecta in about 5 casts. I expected all rainbows and browns. Couldn’t believe when I saw that beautiful brookie! A nice mix of rainbows and browns rounded out the day including a good 19-20 inch rainbow that was super healthy! The purple reign, eggstacy egg and thread frenchie put in most of the work today, with the tungsten surveyor accounting for the big bow.
