Do you struggle with “All or Nothing” thinking. I like to coin this as short-term thinking as those that think this way will go extreme and work hard for a few days, and maybe a month, but get discouraged and quit when the results didn’t happen right away/fast as they wanted, or they messed up once and now they’ve failed.This is a dangerous form of thinking. When you approach fitness and health goals - you need to focus on the long game. You can lose muscle and water quickly, but body fat loss takes a long time (1 lb a week is realistic). Because it is slower, there is nothing you can do to achieve the look you’re going for faster than nature will intend it to. When you focus on the long game, you are focused on developing those daily habits (which turn into long-term habits). You focus on measurements, the way clothes fit, compliments, photos, bloodwork, the way you feel versus strictly focusing on the number on the scale. You focus on the day at hand, and if there are mess ups along the way - you clean the slate and figure out how you could have overcame that obstacle for the next time it happens. Here’s an example of what I eat in a day to hit my goals. I don’t eat the same things everyday as I like having variety in my diet, but I do follow some basic and fundamental guidelines that I teach clients as well. A few of these are:
- Eating a protein with every meal
- Eating a serving of a fruit or veggie with each meal
- Choosing whole ingredients over processed ones
- Following a 90/10 rule of 90% clean foods and 10% being treats
I also follow specific macros to hit my goals and these differ depending on what I’m trying to do (lose fat, build muscle, or maintain). I’m currently in my maintenance phase. I weigh 129 lbs at 5’6 and eating around 2,000-2,100 calories, 250 Carb/60 Fat/140 Protein. This has been great in maintaining my body composition but also allows me a lot of flexibility to enjoy food, friends, and life. Even when I want to cut fat/weight, I have a lot of flexibility to play with my numbers and feel satisfied and balanced and keep a healthy relationship with food and my body.
This of course differs from person to person as well (macros), and there is so much that goes into nutrition programming. What I eat may or may not work for you and your goals. At the end of the day it is very personalized and catered toward the individual. It can also be very dynamic and evolving depending on different factors added into one’s lifestyle.
At the end of the day, I strive for this way of eating to be a lifestyle that one enjoys for a lifetime. If you don’t enjoy it, you won’t stick with it. This is the most important rule in my book 💫.

The glenohumeral joint (shoulder joint) is the most mobile in the body, but it also the least stable. You can’t think of this joint like a bowling ball in a Petri dish. It is held in its shallow socket by various ligaments, tendons and muscles. When these connective tissues and/or muscles are weak or tight, it pulls this joint in differing directions causing it to become more instable prone to injury, impingement, and tears.
This is why it’s so important to warm-up prior to strength training this muscle group. I particularly like to do a dynamic warm-up of the rotator cuff musculature, which is comprised of four muscles surrounding the shoulder joint, keeping it stable and in place.
These exercises are great in targeting these group of muscles and are a great addition to any warm-up or programming. Enjoy ✨.
