Long post alert. THIS is what we came for. EARNED it. This badge represents a lot to me when I first started this 6 years ago they didn't have these . I have them for ol Red and because they ran later. Roscoe didn't get it. 4 rallies, 20000+miles in rally competition (45k total since I've owned him) 2 engines , 1 transmission. ( original was hosed when I bought it, it don't count)
Long days rallying and getting home ,some over 24hours running.
This car brought back my love to build these things again. The long nights the parts, struggles, money, loss of sleep resulted in the mash up you see here. One of The pics of Roscoe in this post was taken in Virginia Beach last night. On my way in to town I realized that his first took him to the west coast and the and the pacific ocean. It's only fitting he ends his run on the east coast and the Atlantic coast. Out of all the cars I have owned ( and its a lot), this is the ONLY car I have been able to take to both coasts.
I love this car. Is it perfect? Nope. Is close to a real general? Also no. It's the stories, the memories and the things I get to do with it that make it special. To run around in this thing, see the smiles it brings to people, the nostalgia, and the ability to live out my child hood dreams every time I slide my fat ass thru that window and hit the key.
Rally days are done, but we still got stuff to do, places to go , and fun to have. For now we are doing what we do best, rolling out into the night dirty and tired from another rally but we aren't stopping until we see home. Why? Be cause it's what me and this old car do. Run hard, play hard, and make memories.
