The Sterling Heights Nature Center has a new feathered ambassador, and he’s already turning heads.
Meet Fitz, a red-phase Eastern Screech Owl who has found his forever home at the Nature Center after an eye injury left him unable to survive in the wild.
Now, Fitz will help visitors connect with Michigan’s native wildlife while learning about conservation, rehabilitation and the important work that goes into caring for birds of prey.
His arrival is also a reflection of the dedication of Nature Center staff, who completed more than 250 hours of specialized training to provide the care and education required for raptor ambassadors like Fitz.
Stop by the Nature Center and give Fitz a warm Sterling Heights welcome on your next visit.
