A reminder for Eastern US competitors. North State Shooting Club will host the Long Range Club Championship match on the weekend April 11-12 2026 at Camp Butner, North Carolina. All firing is at 1000 yards. In addition, we will have a practice day Friday April 10th.

Early Friday morning April 10 will be reserved for USNRT sling target rifle
members to shoot a USNRT Fullbore Postal practice match. We'll fire at international sized targets at 300, 500, 600 and 900 yards. Meet in the pits at 0700 for set up, match starts at 0800 and ends at 12 noon.

General practice for all other rifle classes is in the afternoon, starts at 1pm with firing at the 1000 yard line.

North State Shooting Club will have a Fullbore and Palma match weekend March 28-29th at Camp Butner NC. Pre-match practice is held on Friday March 27. It will be one of the few opportunities you'll have to shoot these two types of events during the year in the East. We invite you to come down south and join us. Register and pay on line.

North State Shooting Club Competitors
We hope everyone is doing well as we start a new season of competitive shooting at North State. If you haven’t yet checked our website at northstateshootingclub.com, we have our 2026 match schedule posted. Our schedule offers 18 match events this year and we are very excited to see even more competitors attend this year. We do need assistance from our competitors to help us make 2026 another successful year in shooting competition.
1. Please use our easy to use on-line registration and payment in advance of the
event you plan to attend including practice days and match weekends. Click
“Events” on upper tool bar to see the individual matches. Advance registration
and payment makes organizing and operating the match fast and efficient.
2. We appreciate assistance from competitors with event set up and take down.
See the Match Director on range for an assignment.
3. Our greatest need is to get competitors certified as Range Safety Officer
(RSO) with the NCNG Camp Butner Training Center. Our club is required to
have three people on-site at all times during the match; two of which must be
certified RSO’s and one that has First Aid/CPR certification. Becoming a RSO is
easy. You attend a two-hour class at Camp Butner and pass a simple test
earning you a two year certificate. We appoint multiple RSO’s during a match so
that one RSO is not shooting.
4. We need RSO certified competitors to serve as Match Director/Officer in
Charge (MD/OIC) to run each event. North State runs 18 matches each year
providing shooting for 500 or more competitors at one of the finest full-length
ranges in the Southeast. Without MD/OIC we cannot hold matches. Click on
“Match Results” on the toolbar. The right margin shows the name of the volunteer. (see screen shot below). We provide instructions and on-site help. Contact Carlton Bray at [email protected] to volunteer for one of our open dates. MD/OIC earn three free match weekends and may receive motel reimbursement.

We’re excited about the great shooting opportunities we have for 2026. The Shot
Marker Target System has been a huge benefit and has made matches more enjoyable. We look forward to seeing you this coming season.

For anyone that suffers from elbow issues, I finally found the guy that sells the elbow pads I have been using for the last several years. I couldnt remember where I bought them and finally did the right google search. FYI, his online credit card thing is down, so you will need to call him. I got two sets on the way.

The government shutdown is still going on and that will prevent us from using Camp Butner to shoot on. With that being said we have decided to move the last match this year, The Iron Man Match, to Central Carolina Gun Club. Same location as the last match. Pre Registration is required as we need to find the numbers for squadding purposes on the shotmarker system. This match will be shot on the shotmarker system as we have done at Camp Butner. Any questions just send me a DM or ask.

This weekends North Carolina State LR Championship has been moved. It will now be held at Central Carolina Gun Club. Practice will start at 11 on Friday. Sign up on NSSC website.

Looks like the shutdown will effect out State LR State Match. It will now be held at Central Carolina, just waiting on final 100% approval. Details to follow.

The new website is up!!! There's still a few bugs to workout with Google on the redirects from the old site. If you have a problem connecting go to your search bar and type in the whole address "https://northstateshootingclub.com" and hit enter. You can register for upcoming matches or submit an application for membership however the pay online function is still connecting and may not work. Go check it out and let us know what you think!

North State Shooting Club Members: A reminder that the Annual Membership meeting will be held at the House of Ribeye in Oxford NC Saturday November 16 at some time after firing is complete that day. to be announced. The meeting will follow dinner. If anyone lives within an hour or more from Camp Butner and is interested in staying overnight in Butner instead of driving home and then back to the range early Sunday morning, I have a motel room to share. Sometimes the meeting runs late Saturday night with business, elections, etc. Let me know now if you are interested. See you at the match.
