Frequently Asked Questions about Mississippi's Enhanced Carry Permit
- Do I need to have my MS Concealed Carry Permit before taking the class? No. You can apply for your permit after taking the course and when it arrives it will already have the Enhanced endorsement. If you do already have your MS Concealed Carry Permit you will only need to take your Course Certificate back to the Highway Patrol office to receive your endorsement.
- How much does the MS Concealed Carry Permit cost? The cost to the state is $112 and it is good for 5 years.
- What does the Enhanced Permit do for me that the Regular Permit does not? The Enhanced Permit removes most of the restrictions on places you cannot carry leaving only four restricted areas: Police Stations / Jails, Federal Buildings, Courtroom, Places of Nuisance.
- Does the Enhanced Permit allow me to carry in locations with NO FI****MS signs? Sometimes. If it is a public building, you are permitted to carry with your Enhanced Permit. If it is a private building, Private Property Law allows the property owner to restrict your access.
