We are incredibly grateful for the extensive firefighting efforts taking place on Rabbit Ears Pass and in the South Valley. The resources that have been mobilized to protect our community are truly remarkable, and we deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.
As a small business in the height of our season, wildfire activity has a significant impact on our operations. Fortunately, we have been lucky to experience relatively clear skies that have allowed us to continue our morning flights.
Safety remains our highest priority. As an FAA-licensed and regulated operation, we take our responsibilities very seriously. Our pilot, Bud, has been flying in this valley for more than 15 years and has an extensive understanding of the area’s weather and wind patterns. Every day, he carefully monitors weather conditions, evaluates wind forecasts, and follows all FAA regulations.
We remain in close communication with our local airport and continuously monitor Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) and aircraft activity, ensuring our flights remain safely clear of all flight restrictions and firefighting operations.
At this time, we are still able to launch from our regular launch site. Thanks to our knowledge of traditional wind patterns and our ability to assess daily conditions, we can plan flight paths that remain well away from firefighting operations and restricted areas.
We recognize that conditions can change daily—or even hourly—and we are continually monitoring fire activity and airspace conditions. We are prepared to adjust our launch locations and flight plans whenever necessary to ensure the safety of our passengers, crew, and the emergency personnel working in the area.
Right now, we are grateful for clear skies, grateful for the support of our local community, and deeply grateful to the many individuals working tirelessly to keep us all safe.
