Happy Balloon Ascencion Day!! 🎈
January 9, 1793 was the first successful manned balloon flight in the United States! This historic event took place in Philadelphia. Jean-Pierre Blanchard, a French aeronaut, ascended in a hydrogen filled balloon from the courtyard of the Walnut Street Prison. His flight reached a peak of 5,812 ft, lasted for 46 minutes and traveled about 15 miles. Thankfully Blanchard had wine in his balloon basket and when he landed in a field he offered the landowner some of his wine. He was then well received!
We hope everyone of you gets to experience the thrill of a balloon flight at least once in your lifetime. Cheers to the adventurers!

So often we put off the things that will nourish our souls in the endless chase of accomplishing tasks. We tell ourselves that we will take the trip when we are caught up, we will do something for ourselves after the house is clean, exercise after the laundry is done. Living in a house with two small children I now realize that the house will never be clean enough and the laundry most definitely will never be done. But what is important, what me and my family needs are the things that nourish our souls. We need picnics by the river and sunsets on the lake. We need moments like the silence and magic of a balloon ride to allow us to hear and feel the things that are really important. Even for us, just being in, around and under the balloon is a gentle reminder that it is amazing to be alive; to not let the insatiable hunger for accomplishment overshadow the pure joy of the moments. What if you allowed yourself to be present, not perfect? What if you choose to do something today that connects you to the vitality of life?
