Meet the state crew! The Terriers set off for the 2-day State Track Meet today in East Peoria. This group is primed and ready to make some history. We’ll provide updates as the meet goes along. Go Terriers!

Last Saturday, our Terriers competed at the absolutely loaded IESA 3A Sectional 10 track meet at Gillespie. We had an excellent day across all divisions and qualified 17 athletes for the state meet! Results were as follows:

Team Scores:

7th Grade Boys: 12th place with 12 points
7th Grade Girls: 6th place with 40 points
8th Grade Boys: 2nd place with 92 points
8th Grade Girls: 3rd place with 71 points

State Qualifiers:

7th Grade Girls:
- Leah Moore: 800m, 1600m

8th Grade Girls:
- Bridget Black: 400m, 4x100m
- Avery Coalson: 4x100m
- Chloe Jones: 4x100m
- Avery Lamore: 4x100m
- Audrey Podwojski: Discus
- Leah Rhodes: 4x100m
- Lainey Weller: LJ, 200m, 4x100m

8th Grade Boys:

Sectionals were a great wrap-up to our season. The Terriers had an amazing spring and although our 8th grade led the way this year, the future of our program looks bright! Now, on to East Peoria as we represent Staunton at the State Track Meet!

Last night we celebrated our 8th graders at our home meet. This special group of athletes deserve all the praises they have received over the years. Whether they were 3 year participants or if this was their first year, they’ve done an exemplary job of being leaders for our team.

Some statistics of this class (so far):

-24 athletic.net school records
-10 state qualifiers
-5 state medalists

-61% have competed all 3 years
-76% have competed for 2+ years

-67% are multi-sport athletes

-100% are amazing kids

We will miss this group but we still have time left to make more history. Keep an eye out to see what they do over the next couple of weeks!

We had an excellent day across all divisions! Although we had many county champions, we made up the majority of our team points through our many 2nd-6th place finishes. A true team effort! As sectionals draw nearer, the 8th grade Terriers continue to push their state rankings while our 6/7th graders continue to grow and develop into great young athletes. Top 3 finishes in all 4 classes is a great sign. Excellent work, Terriers!
