Here are the facts.

Frank Williams, an employee of Ogeechee Steamers Bait and Tackle, has been arrested and charged with criminal trespass and theft by taking. According to statements and evidence provided during the investigation, Frank admitted to going onto our property and tampering with our propane tank the week prior to our property being taken. That act caused us to shut down for approximately three days.

During that time, we lost business and were forced to send our customers elsewhere — including to the very business next door.

Brian Smith, owner of Ogeechee Steamers Bait and Tackle, has also been arrested and charged with obstruction of law enforcement and tampering with evidence in relation to this ongoing investigation.

These are not opinions — these are charges and events that are part of an active investigation. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, but the impact on our business has been real, and we will continue to pursue this through every legal avenue available.

There is no more to the story. These are the individuals who have been arrested and charged in connection with these events.

‼️UPDATE & CORRECTION‼️

We want to issue a sincere apology regarding the timeline mentioned in our previous post about the theft of our property.

In the original post, we stated that the suspect vehicle arrived around 12:58 PM on Sunday, March 8. After conducting a much more detailed review of all available video footage, we discovered that the camera angles and time sequence created what was essentially an optical illusion in the footage, making the events appear connected when they were not.

We also discovered that the timestamp on one of our security cameras was 1 hour and 7 minutes off, which contributed to the confusion and led to a crucial mistake in identifying the timeline of events.

After carefully reviewing additional footage and confirming timestamps, we now know that the theft actually occurred at 7:02 AM on Monday, March 9.

This changes nothing. We know exactly who did it and what time it happened. As soon as we are legally able to do so, we will release the names of the individuals involved! TOMORROW?!?!
