REMINDER:
We are excited to get started with our shotgun practices this week! We are planning to hold practice at Hollister Shooting Range this Sunday, August 14, at 6:00 p.m. We have the range scheduled for the following two Sundays as well, Aug 21 & 28. At these practices we will discuss other days, times, and locations that will work best for the group in the future.
When: Aug 14, 21, 28 @ 6:00 p.m.
Where: Hollister Shooting Range, Fort Scott, ¼ mile North of the 155th Street & Hackberry Rd intersection (I have had success getting there with both google map directions, and apple map directions)
Equipment Needed: Shotgun (cased), minimum 2 boxes of trap shells
We will have a few shotguns available to be used and a limited number of shotgun shells available to buy.
Hearing and eye protection will be provided (you may bring personal PPE, but any hearing protection that can play music will need to be shut off).
The Old Fort Sharpshooters have been very generous with allowing us to use their range, so we ask that you follow all range rules while you attend practice. We also ask that all shotguns arrive unloaded, and in a case. We will have a designated area for shotguns to be kept on the range, and we ask that a parent carry the fi****ms from the car to the designated area.
We would like to apologize for seeming to be unorganized and unprepared as we are trying to get things moving this year. It has taken much more time to get things lined up than we had hoped, so we thank you for being patient, and remaining excited as we get started!
A few Updates:
We were able to secure a $5,000 grant from The Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas. With this money we are planning to purchase an enclosed trailer and outfit it to hold all of our equipment. Our goal is to make the Southwind Shooting Sports as mobile as possible, to allow us to better reach all four counties of our district.
We are planning to hold bb gun/ air rifle practices in the winter months, since we are able to hold practices indoors.
We would like to set up a direct messaging list (text or email). This will help us reach parents with important updates much quicker than using 4Honline.
