Had the 2025 season banquet last weekend for 131. Evan finished 5th in no box in his first year of big car racing, outstanding! His peers voted him rookie of the year for his efforts.

Won't be long now and we'll be starting the 2026 season.

Building an Opel has its trying moments. It's taking way longer than it should, it's not perfect, but its ours. I'm glad to report neither Evan nor I have any serious injuries to report thus far, so that's a plus. Lol. Time to make some race car noises on this cold and snowy day before lunch and on to the next task.

King Tut recap. The plan was for Tracy to drive Saturday and Evan to drive Sunday in no box. Evan had his last final exam of the semester on Saturday and just couldn't make it in time.

Tracy was okay up front in the 2 time runs with. 02x reactions. First round he's 036 to a 019 and opponent backed right into him for the win. Buy back and someone must have welded his thumb to the button as he just did not let go anywhere close to a reasonable reaction time. Done for the day.

Evan said, you can't end your season on that run, you drive Sunday as well. As it turned out we both got to race. We need to thank Bernie Vanderploeg as he had some issues with his generator and gave his box entry to Roy Parrish. Roy noticed some noise coming from his rear end and didn't want to put the extra stress on doubling, so he gave the box entry to Evan.

Tracy did better, 02x the first 3 rounds up front. Rd 3 was were it ended with a good race. 001 at the stripe losing a double breakout race by 004.

Even with only 1 time run Sunday, Evan switch to another button for something to try so that he could raise the launch rpm back into a range to eliminate any inconsistencies. In box, off the bottom, he's 002, 004 and 007 for the time run and the first 2 rounds for wins. 3rd rd he found the other side and was red. We might have convinced him this is better as the truck was pretty nasty in the rpm range.

Like most teams in the north, that was our last planned race for the year. It's time to get to work on that Opel!!!

Stay tuned, maybe we'll show some sneak peaks as we get things done.

WDRA Northern Bracket Finals recap.

Just Evan this weekend becauseTracy sucked this year, LOL.

Nothing spectacular to report though.

Friday's gambler he let go red 1st and 4th rounds.

Saturday's main event he did the same thing, red 1st rd. Won a couple of buy back rounds before getting packaged up when opponent was 003 up front to Evan's worst light of the weekend at 030.

Sunday's gambler he had some fun holding a lot before getting behind 001 at the stripe 3rd rd.

Picture was at the mph cone, backing into a little quicker car during Friday's gambler.

Took a little day trip to work on some more stuff. Evan is applying strategies in the truck, made some good runs, others just gotaway with. As always, lessons learned on each and every trip down the track. Ended up losing at 8 cars so not a bad day. Next up, WDRA bracket finals.

Labor day weekend recap. Last 2 points races at 131 and then off to Mid Michigan for Monday.

Tracy tested Friday just to find a rhythm with the tree.

Saturday, the testing seemed to help Tracy as he was able to lay down a few good laps and actually made it to 3rd rd where he let go 002 too soon. Evan was in a battle for 4-6th in points. He manages a few good laps before having his worst run of the year when he let go 072 4th rd for the loss. He is human. At the end of this day, 4th thru 6th place was separated by less than a round.

Sunday, Tracy did a little better winning 3 rds before his talent ran out. All in all, it was the best weekend Tracy has had in box in quite some time. That's a win. Evan finds himself on the losing end of a great race once again. 2nd rd he's 014 up front and ends up 002 behind at the stripe, opponent was 004 on the tree. However, that 1st rd win got him from 6th to 5th in points. The goal this year was to make the bracket finals team with a stretch goal of being in the top 10. Both goals checked.

Monday, traveled to Mid for more seat time and to work on more strategies. Evan was driving both ends pretty well. 1st rd he's holding 7 with a slower opponent. Crosses 013 in front to win a double breakout race, by 001. Got lucky there, but another learning moment. 2nd rd he let go red and just drives to 006 stripe. It's Mid, so we buy back in. 3rd rd he was back to more reasonable numbers with the dial. He's 001 and has his opponent caught by the 60ft block, easy win. 4th rd was another great race, just on the wrong side. Evan was 014 up front to a 012. He was holding on a faster opponent and reeled it in to a 002 stripe, but was too focused on the driving part instead of getting back to dead on and lost a double breakout race, by 004. Yeah, in hindsight, he should've got behind and closer to dead on, but thought he was good enough up front to be in control. It was a good learning day.

Shout out to Amanda, she rocked selling 50/50 for the last weekend! Even Dave the stater wanted in on that action, lol.

Man oh man, it's rough out there! Back home for a couple of points races and neither driver got much going.

Saturday Evan starts out 5 total for the win. 2nd he's 010 up front for the win. 3rd rd the tree dropped .0004 red for the loss. Tracy wasn't any better than 022 1st or 2nd rds for losses.

Sunday's gotta be better right! Nope, exact same results just the classes swapped. Evan is 002 1st rd and couldn't turn on the win light, rough! 2nd rd he's 012 and 012 behind, double rough! Since Tracy's been all over the map with his reaction times, he decided to change things up and go back to the Apex button. Time run he's 013 red. Made an adjustment for 1st rd and ended up 033, but opponent was red so he got away with it. 2nd made another adjustment and was 006 for the win, looking good now. 3rd rd he's 005, but ended up 004 behind and 02 over the dial for the loss (brilliant)!

We'll lick our wounds and come back swinging next week for another points weekend at 131.

OG 50k race rundown.

First off, gotta thank Jake Huntington for the no box entry. Without that, this weekend probably wasn't going to be.

As stated before Evan had class so Tracy drive both entries Thursday and Friday.

Thursday Tracy takes the no box entry all the way to the no box final but fell short there. In the box class, still leaving off the bottom, Tracy was 013 total and got 003 in change for the loss. Tough right there.

Friday Tracy does a little better taking the no box win and advancing to the box side. Tracy won a round in the box side and made it to 9 cars. That's where some guy named Tyler Bohannon (who ruled the weekend) gave no room at all to get in on.

Yeah, Tracy was on a roll, but to be honest, he was driving average at best, just getting lucky when it mattered.

Come Saturday for the big event (50k), Evan was in the seat. True to Evan's luck, opponent swings for the fence and is 004 against Evan's 02x bulb, no chance. That ended his no box hope for Saturday. Buys back in, has both entries going into 3 round, but 0 coming out. Again, rough!

Sunday brought rd 1 off the trailer (no time runs). Evan's wins both first rounds. 2nd rd of no box he had his one miss this weekend (037) at the wrong time and couldn't win the round. On the box side he got back up on the wheel, won a few rounds and then just plain met the bulb and was way red.

It was our first 50grander and it was a good time. Hope to get to do it again.

Another hot/humid weekend in the books.

12th annual Bottom Bulb Bash started Thursday with test runs to verify the trans filter issue was fixed, check!

Friday, Evan was at school so Tracy wheeled both entries, but didn't do anything spectacular going 2 for 5 and zero entries made the 3rd round.

Saturday, Tracy just gave the keys to Evan and said go get 'em with both entries. Unfortunately, he didn't get a time run, but no matter. Evan wins the 1st rd with both entries. 2nd rd he stages, sets the brake and gets on the chip....straight through the beams he went. Wire fell off trans brake button. Fixed that to the point it can't pull on the connector anymore. He then lined up with the best Bottom bulbers in the country 3 rounds straight. If you were there, you know. He wins the first two, holy s**t! One was red the other was a dandy! Evan's 004 up front to opponents 009. Evan crosses first by 003 to win a double break race. He lost the 3rd monster match up 4th round, with a solid lap! Evan was 010 up front to opponents 026, Evan ends up 002 behind at the stripe and opponent was dead 1 for the win, doh!

Come Sunday morning, Evan was driving way better than Tracy so he drove both entries again.

1st round was a throw back to the junior battles with the Wied's. As advertised, it was pretty good. Tyler was 009 to Evan's 011, Tyler gets the win going dead 8, Evan slowed to 02 over. It was fun to watch. I'm sure they will meet in the big cars again at some point. 2nd entry, Evan let's go 002 red, doh, gotta get both through re-entry round to continue. In the 1st re-entry, Evan is 016 up front, tries to tighten up and made a mistake by actually getting behind by 0003. It didn't matter, opponent was 006 total! He did take the 2nd entry down to 12 cars where he just let go early and was way red (027), he is human, lol.

Short turn around this week as we are heading to Mid for the OG 50grander. Tracy will drive Thur/Fri for the 10ks as Evan is in school, but Evan will drive the 50 and Sunday.

Money Maker weekend recap.

Friday it was just Tracy running since Evan had class. Tracy didn't get much going losing both entries in the 3rd rd.

Saturday was a pure struggle. Tracy makes the 1st pass and trans slips on the gear change and runs about 3 hun slow. When Evan made his time run, trans brake doesn't hold due to broken wire on the button so he didn't get a time run. 1st rd, Tracy dials up to cover the trans slip, but doesnt do his job on the starting line and truck slowed down even more, no chance. Double check trans oil level, it's good. So Evan now goes up, doesn't have a time run, truck isn't performing so he dials waayyy up to make sure he can get there. Luckily for him, opponent went red (001). He ran it out going under by 8 hun, lol! Evan did his job up front (004) so it would've been interesting at the big end. Tracy didn't buy back in trying to figure why the trans was slipping. Racepack shows engine speed flare on shift. Double checked, linkage, found a small misalignment. 2nd rd Evan still dialed up, took 005 for the win. Trans still slipped. Next we decided to remove the electric shifter to see if it was slow or not working correctly. 3rd rd, Evan is real good up front and takes 012 for the win being .02 over. Please note, Evan has never shifted by hand yet and here we are doing it on the fly in eliminations. That's when the rains came, the race was called and split.

Thinking the trans is hurt and having 2 big weekends coming up, we decided to pack up, go home and yank the trans to figure it out. Well, we got it all pulled and found absolutely nothing wrong with the front pump or high gear seals. When removing high gear drum we were expecting to see some bad clutches, but didn't, they all looked great! We finally decided to pull the pan to look at the filter, Bingo! The oil filter and spacer were laying in the bottom of the pan (all 3 screws came out). A lot of work and a missed race all for something we could've repaired fairly easily at the track and raced today if we just would've looked. Live and learn I guess.

They said racing would be fun!

Everything is back together and ready for the Bottom Bulb Bash at 131 this weekend.

Weekend points race update.

We got the good converter back in and yeah, it still works really well!

Tracy just can't seem to win a first round in box to save his life. Buy back in each day then goes a few more rounds. Saturday ended with a 005 red light, Sunday ended with 012, take 007 to be 005 under for the loss. Opponent was 013 dead 1.

Evan had a great day Saturday getting to the semis before running into the "LAP". He's 022 dead 2 and got 014 change with opponent being 010 total. Sunday he continued really good runs and finally got one to roll his way taking a thou to be 0005 less under than opponent. Next round the "LAP" showed up in the other lane again. Evan was 022 get behind a thou this time when opponent was 010 and a thou under to lose a double breakout race. 12 passes between sat/sun with a total spread from 006 to 026, no reds! Keep making those laps kid, good things will happen!

Next up, Money Maker at Stanton. Tracy will finally get to run other no box racers for a change instead of box. In fact, the next 3 weeks is all no box racing.
