We only had a handful of athletes interested in attending the regional meet on 10/23. I also have a conflict as the HS is running at the same time at a different location, so we will NOT be running at the regional race.

Thank you for an incredible season! We have the most amazing parents that made sure all our athletes had snacks and drinks at every race and I can't tell you how much I appreciate all you have done!

Make sure to get your uniforms turned in this week!

Last race selfies!

The ice cream party will be this Friday (10/8) after school and will last until around 4. Athletes need to bring their uniform and their favorite ice cream topping! I’ll supply the ice cream, bowls, and spoons!

A huge shoutout to all the people that made our scavenger hunt possible! Thank you Kristen and Steve for running with the groups, and thank you 90 Degree Nutrition for donating to the cost of the drinks. This is such an amazing community we live in!

Bus leaves the school today at 2 for Big Rapids. Girls run at 5:30 and boys run at 6.

First off, I’ve sent parents an important email about Monday’s practice. Please check it out!

We had an amazing day at Shepherd with all but two athletes earning a personal record! We had four athletes medal in the top 40 with some pretty crazy competition! I am so proud of the hard work these kids have put in. Cross Country is a very mentally demanding sport, and they have shown me again and again how strong they are!

This Tuesday, 10/5, is our last official meet of the year. We are at Big Rapids High School. It is a 2 mile course that we have never ran, but looking at the map it looks like it is going to be a pretty flat, open course. I attached the map I was given. Girls will run at 5:30 and boys will run at 6. If they are not riding the bus home they will need to sign out before leaving. We will be stopping at McDonald’s on the way home!

There is no practice after Tuesday, but we will have an ice cream party in my room after school on Friday, 10/8! The athletes need to supply their favorite topping (whipped cream, sprinkles, syrups, cones, etc) and I’ll provide the ice cream, bowls, and spoons. The only requirement is that they have to turn in their uniform in order to have the ice cream! 🙂

MHSAA is having their FIRST EVER regional competition for middle school cross country this year on Saturday, 10/23 in Carson City (for our division). This is NOT required by athletes, but it would be a really cool opportunity for any runner that is interested.

Meet Your Hornets!

This is Raiden, Hunter, and Johnny. They are our ONLY 6th graders and we are so proud of their effort to keep up with the athletes that already have experience in the sport!

Raiden doesn’t really have a favorite food, but is looking forward to his first race! His favorite workout in cross country practice is running hills.

Hunter’s favorite food is pizza! Like Raiden, his favorite workout is running hills.

Johnny's favorite food is strawberries! In practice, his favorite thing to do is play a game we call "Food Chain". Being a hawk is the best. :)

For the first time EVER I was able to take our MS team to run Cemetery Hill in Stanton to run hills! It’s about 1.5 miles there, another 1.5 miles back, and they ran 3-4 hills when we got there! I am beyond proud of these athletes!

Meet Your Hornets!

This is Max and Tyne. They are both in 7th grade and this is their second year on the cross country team.

Max loves steak, but doesn’t like to eat anything before racing. His favorite workout in practice is when we run hills.

Tyne’s favorite food is chicken. He likes to snack on animal crackers before a race. Like Max, Tyne’s favorite workout is when we run hills!
