The Model 1903 Springfield Guiberson periscope trench rifle was a rare, experimental firearm designed to allow U.S. soldiers to aim and fire from the safety of a trench during World War I. While other trench rifles used bulky external frames, the Guiberson featured a unique folding stock that built the periscope system directly into the weapon.
