๐Ÿ˜ A little background on me- First and foremost I'm a momma to the two cutest little boys on the planet. โค๏ธ They are my heart and soul.

I graduated with my Bachelors in Exercise and Kinesiology from the University of Utah in 2011. I also received my Minor in Nutritional Sciences from the U when I graduated.

๐Ÿค“ I'm currently enrolled in my Masters Program to pursue my Registered Dietitian license in Clinical Dietetics. My specialty right now is a focus on Eating Disorders but have worked in a variety of settings including clinical rehabilitation and with professional sports teams such as Real Salt Lake and the Utah Warriors.

๐Ÿ‹โ€โ™€๏ธ I've been training for 14 years.

I'm a certified Personal Trainer and Nutritionist. In addition to ENpowered I work for Intermountain Health as an Exercise Therapist at the Lifestyle Medicine facility in Salt Lake City.

I've worked with clients from teenage athletes to geriatrics and we can work around and modify anything for individual needs.

PSA (simply providing much needed resources)

The week of Feb 24th is National Eating Disorder Awareness week.

Did you know in the state of Utah, Eating Disorders are the second deadliest mental health diagnosis. The majority of these deaths are by su***de.

50% of Americans know someone with disordered eating behaviors.

Less than 50% of those with Eating Disorder tendencies seek treatment.

One of the things I have found a true passion in is working to understand the extremely multifaceted diagnosis of Eating Disorders. These disorders do not discrimate gender, race, age, or culture.

So often family and friends don't know how to approach the issue. While resources are growing- awareness and opening dialogue is KEY.

Tomorrow National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) is hosting a day of conversation- a 12 hour dialogue of at risk population topics in Eating Disorders ranging from Athletes, OCD, ADHD and neurodivergency, how to talk to family members, links in the LGBTQ community, childhopd trauma and more. Every 30 minutes will cover a new approach and understanding.

The VIRTUAL conference is free - although donations are encouraged they are not required.

Hey guys - ENpowered Personal Training and Nutrition, LLC . wants to wish you a happy and healthy New Year in 2025.

We have gone quiet on social media for a bit now due to the crazy time demands of balancing work and family life. However, we are still doing what we love and working hard to continue growing our education and resources for you all.

We offer Personal Training and work with clients from high school team group training to retired clients and everyone in-between. Our training appts are always one-on-one or with a small group (husband/wife, mother/daughter, etc.)

We focus on functional fitness with a hybrid approach including cardiovascular, HIIT style intervals, isolation and body weight and stability exercises.

We also offer our Nutrition Program which is currently lead by me (Nicole Holland ๐Ÿ‘‹) entering my second year Masters Program as a Clinical Dietetics (Registered Dietitian Program).

My internship has allowed me to gain experience working with REAL Salt Lake, Utah Warriors, Utah Royals professional sports team as well as opportunities working in a Clinical setting through Intermountain Healthcare working with Diabetes management, Gastrointestinal Diseases, Chronic illness, Eating Disorder, in the ICU and NICU and other clinical setting experiences.

Right now, due to our schedules and current cliental needs, we do not have any current openings. But we wanted to remind our community we are still here working hard to help answer your nutrition and fitness needs!

Grab a pair of dumbbells and find a bench, chair, box or even front porch steps and that's all you need to get a full body workout from home or on the go!

* No bike - No problem - choose any cardio that will get your heart rate elevated for 30 seconds and recover for 30 seconds. Jump rope, Burpees, Sprints, whatever to get your body moving.

** For the farmers carry - you want the weight to be pretty heavy. Choose a distance (driveway and back) and a weight that CHALLENGES you.

*** No Sandbag for cleans - swap in devil presses with your weights.

๐Ÿ‹โ€โ™€๏ธ I've been running a personal training business for 13 years.

I'm a certified Personal Trainer and Nutritionist with the International Sports Science Academy. In addition to ENpowered I've worked for Intermountain Health as an Exercise Therapist at the Lifestyle Medicine facility in Salt Lake City. I have also ran Exercise Therapy programs at a number of assisted living facilities throughout Salt Lake as an employee of Mountain Land Physical Therapy and have developed and implemented the 4 Pillars Nutrition method we use at ENpowered with all our clients.

๐Ÿค“ I'm currently enrolled in my Master's Program to pursue my Registered Dietitian license in Clinical Dietetics.

My program has given me the unique opportunities of working in the ICU, NICU, with outpatient clinics, professional sports teams like REAL Salt Lake and the Utah Warriors, and even interning at the MASSIVE kitchen at Intermountain Murray IMC location.

I thought Iโ€™d do a little pasta review. Once people find out they can eat pasta they have questions as to what type is the best. Yes, you can eat pasta and still lose weight. Yes, you can eat pasta if you have PCOS or a diabetic! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Whatโ€™s the best pasta?! It depends. It depends on what you prefer, are you looking for more protein, more fiber or just a certain texture? Iโ€™m here to review!

1. chickpea pasta: made from chickpeas; 12g protein and 5g fiber per 2 oz serving
2. pasta: made from lupini beans; 12g protein and 6g fiber per 3.5 oz serving
3. Red Lentil pasta: made from red lentils; 14g protein and 6g fiber per 3.5 oz serving
4. Whole grain pasta: made from wheat flour; 8g protein and 7g fiber per 2 oz serving
5. White pasta: made from semolina; 7g protein and 2g fiber per serving
6. protein +: made from a mix of flours and pea protein; 10g protein and 5g fiber per 2 oz serving
7. chickpea pasta: made from chickpeas; 19g protein and 11g fiber per cup serving (more than 2 oz serving)

We are a big fan of white pasta in our house because we love the taste. We then add protein and make sure to get enough fiber throughout the day from fruits and veggies. If you struggle to get enough protein and fiber in your diet one of these alternative pastas might be a better option for you. Some things to consider with higher fiber pasta. Tolerance. Gas and bloating may occur when consuming that much fiber at once. Texture, some of the plant-based pastas do have a chewy texture and a different taste to them. If I had to pick my favorite tasting plant-based pasta it would be the As far as my favorite for taste and macros when comparing them all it would be the protein + ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Such cool opportunities to be able to work on my education and get experiences like this while making connections. ๐Ÿค“

ENpowered has had an incredible week with lots of growth and learning - ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ Nicole Holland one of our ENpowered Personal Trainers and Nutritionists has had the incredible opportunity to work with Intermountain Healthcare's teams of Sports Dieticians through her Internship.

I got to visit the new Utah Warriors Rugby team facility and work one of one with their dietician who also works with Real Salt Lake as they moved in and set up their fueling station. Interview and participate with the Utah Jazz's 2023-2024 team dietitian and got some incredible firsthand opportunities to learn and grow in my own understanding and knowledge in the sports dietetics field.

๐Ÿง  We can't wait to keep learning and growing and bringing new knowledge and understanding to our clients and community!
