Normally our family is opening The River Company this weekend in Stanley and it feels really strange to not be there. We wanted to share that The River Company has concluded operations following the sale of our business to three Stanley based outfitters. With changes to our real estate circumstances, it was the right time to close this chapter.
To every guide who showed up sunburned, river-smart, wildly capable, and just the right amount of unhinged: thank you. You didn’t just run trips—you built a community, shaped unforgettable summers, and somehow made “controlled chaos” look like a whole lot of fun. Our kids were lucky enough to grow up surrounded by you all—learning grit, humor, leadership, and how to rig a trip faster than most adults can tie their shoes. You’ve been more than coworkers; you’ve been mentors, role models, and proof that the future is in good hands. If this is what the next generation looks like, we will be just fine.
To our guests — thank you for trusting us with your time on the water. Sharing the river with you has been a privilege. The memories created on those rivers will stay with us.
