There will never be another Jimmy V.

We are deeply saddened to learn that Jimmy Viglizzo, founder of Jimmy V’s Sports Cafe, passed away peacefully this weekend surrounded by family and friends.

Known to everyone simply as “Jimmy V”, his affiliation with Stanford Athletics dated back to 1999, and he was a familiar and trusted face to student-athletes, coaches, staff, alumni, and many others in the broader Stanford community.

Known best for its trademark smoothies, the Sports Cafe immediately became a favorite gathering place largely because of Jimmy’s charismatic personality. Jimmy was a tireless and devoted supporter of Stanford Athletics and all its teams, routinely catering pregame meals, award banquets, tailgates, and special events while building lifelong relationships in the process. Jimmy was also on site for several memorable moments, whether it was watching the men’s soccer team complete its NCAA championship three-peat or attending football bowl games and women’s basketball Final Fours.

Jimmy’s spirit continues to live on in the cafe and we extend our sincerest condolences to his family.
