Saint Joseph’s Selects Kayla Pierce to Lead Maine’s First Collegiate Flag Football Program

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College of Maine has named Kayla Pierce as the first head coach in the history of its women's flag football program, as announced by the Athletic Department on Thursday. Her first day on campus will be Monday, August 17.

WELCOME TO MONK NATION, COACH PIERCE! 🏈

Saint Joseph’s College of Maine is excited to announce Kayla Pierce as the first head coach in the history of the Monks’ women’s flag football program and the first ever NCAA Division III Maine Flag Football Coach!

A native of Acton, Maine and graduate of Sanford High School, Pierce brings collegiate head-coaching experience, a background as both a flag and professional tackle football player, and a passion for developing strong athletes and leaders.

Coach Pierce will spend the 2026–27 academic year recruiting student-athletes and building the program as the Monks prepare for their inaugural varsity season in Spring 2028.

📚 ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE ACROSS MONK NATION! 🏆

A program-record 141 Saint Joseph’s College student-athletes have earned 2025–26 GNAC Academic All-Conference honors—the second-highest total in the conference and the most for the Monks since joining the GNAC in 2007–08!

The group includes 77 repeat honorees, 28 multi-sport student-athletes and four-time selection Anthony Samiotes. Men’s lacrosse led the way with 21 honorees, while baseball and women’s soccer each added 16.

Congratulations to all 141 Monks for their continued commitment to excellence in the classroom and in competition! 👏

SJC Baseball Earns 2026 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

STANDISH, Maine – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) has announced the recipients of the 2025-26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, with Saint Joseph's College among more than 500 collegiate programs nationwide to earn the honor.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE ON AND OFF THE FIELD 📚🥍

Six Monks — Quinn Brown, Sophia Burton, Alexis Copp, Lydia Hill, Celia Melanson, and Taylor Shorey — have been named to the 2026 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll!

Saint Joseph’s also earned IWLCA Academic Honor Squad recognition after posting a team GPA of 3.20 or higher during the academic year.

The honors cap an outstanding season that included an 18-3 record, a GNAC Championship, and an NCAA Tournament appearance! 🏆

Monks Earn IWLCA Academic Honor Squad Recognition; Six Players Listed on Academic Honor Roll

STANDISH, Maine – Six Saint Joseph's College women's lacrosse players have been named to the 2026 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll, while the Monks also collected Academic Honor Squad honors, the organization announced Wednesday.
