The Art of Control recently launched at 1177 Summer St Stamford CT! Formerly located at SUNY Purchase The Art of Control has a long and prestigious history in the Pilates Community. The Pilates program at SUNY Purchase was first started with Romana Kryzanowska at the helm in the mid 70's. Simona Cipriani, the Director of "The Art of Control" was taught by Romana Kryzanowska and taught alongside he

r for many years. Simona created the current Professional Pilates Mat Certification Program that is accredited by SUNY Purchase as well as the Full Apparatus Program issued by "The Art and Science of Contrology Pilates Certification Program"(ASCPCP).

✨ And just like that, our 2026 Summer Intensive comes to an end! ✨

What an incredible few weeks of learning, practicing, refining, and deepening our understanding of the Classical Pilates method.

To our apprentices: thank you for your commitment, dedication, and willingness to continue learning and doing the work. Some of you traveled to be here in the studio, while others joined us online from across the world, sometimes staying up late or waking up early just to observe, learn, and be part of the training. 🌎✨

Your dedication, curiosity, and passion for the work have been truly inspiring. 🤍

A special thank you to Cristina for guiding our apprentices through the first weekend of the Intensive, and to Simona for sharing her knowledge, experience, and passion throughout this journey.

And of course, a huge thank you to Kristen for guiding our students throughout the year and for doing such a wonderful job leading this final weekend. 🤍

We are so proud of the work this group has put in and excited to see how they continue to grow, learn, and deepen their understanding of the method.

This may be the end of the Summer Intensive, but it’s certainly not the end of the journey. ✨

And, of course, no Intensive would be complete without a little chin chin! 🥂

Yesterday, our apprentices took on Advanced Reformer, continuing to build on everything they’ve learned throughout the program and diving even deeper into the Classical Pilates system.

Day two of our second weekend of the 2026 Summer Intensive. ✨

A deeper dive into the Intermediate Reformer and the Classical Pilates system.

In Classical Pilates, the exercises are not meant to stand alone. Each movement has a purpose within the larger system, building on what came before and preparing the body for what comes next.

Our apprentices spent the day practicing, refining, and exploring those connections under the guidance of Master Teacher Simona Cipriani. 🤍

The work is in the details—and in understanding how it all comes together.

In Loving Memory of Elaine Hertz 🤍

For nearly two decades, Elaine was a cherished part of our Pilates family. Her dedication, kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

This video is a small tribute to the many years we shared together through Pilates and to the beautiful legacy Elaine leaves behind. She will always be remembered with love, gratitude, and admiration.

Our hearts are with Elaine’s family and loved ones.
