✨ SEPTEMBER MEMBER OF THE MONTH: KINDRA
Kindra may be newer to our SLAMily, but you’d never know it by the way she jumped right in. 🧡
One thing Kindra shared with us really says it all: health is about so much more than working out and eating right — community is part of it, too. 🫶 And we have loved watching her find that community here while becoming such a wonderful part of ours.
Get to know our member of the month:
“Hi im Kindra, a hotel manager turned yoga instructor turned software engineer turned stay at home mom, so my path to where I am today has been anything but linear! Since being diagnosed with MS in 2020, my health has become a huge priority in my life. When we moved from Brooklyn to Arlington that same year, I really hunkered down and focused on my health while tackling my new career in software engineering.
Without friends or family nearby, I eventually realized that health is about so much more than just working out and eating right, community is a huge part of health too.
When I became a mom, I knew I wanted to pass down “health over hustle” to my daughter, Eliza, and show her that taking care of yourself, your relationships, and your community matters. So when we moved to Dumfries to be closer to Quantico for my husband’s work and I left my career to stay home with Eliza, finding a community for both of us became a huge priority.
That’s when I found SLAM , and It has been such a beautiful mix of everything I was looking for. I get to work out, Eliza gets to play and socialize, and so do I! I leave SLAM feeling better not only physically, but mentally too. The workouts are great, but the amazing community of women is what makes it so special. I’m incredibly grateful Eliza and I found our SLAMily and a place where we can be active, build friendships, and take care of ourselves together.
When I’m not chasing after Eliza or our 100-pound pit bull, Mando, you can usually find me crafting, gardening, searching for the best restaurants and recipes or dreaming up our next travel adventure!”
