🏢 One week from yesterday, IREM St. Louis is gathering for a lunch program that gets into the building issues managers actually have to handle.

From Pipes to Protection will feature Chris Konkel and Nick Zahner from Murphy Company, covering the essentials of smart building operations.

We’re talking about plumbing maintenance, troubleshooting, preventative care, safety procedures, hazard recognition, PPE, and emergency response. Good information for property managers, facility managers, and anyone who wants to feel more prepared before the next building issue shows up.

Plus, we’ll celebrate the success of the IREM St. Louis Golf Classic and present the charity funds raised to KidSmart, Tools for Learning.

This is the kind of leadership story that deserves a little extra attention. 💚

Samantha Thornton, CPM, ARM has been doing the kind of work that changes an industry from the inside out. As a 2021 DISI Leader and Chairwoman of the DEI committee for the IREM Austin Chapter, she’s been helping push real conversations forward around representation, hiring, and the ways unconscious bias can shape who gets opportunities.

What makes Samantha’s story so strong is that she’s not just talking about change. She’s helping build it. She knows that when people see leadership that reflects them, it changes what feels possible. And she’s been committed to making sure more people get to see themselves in this profession and in its leadership.

We also love that she’s paying it forward. Samantha’s now involved in other Foundation initiatives and is helping raise support for future DISI Leaders and the Foundation’s Diversity Scholarship. That’s the kind of ripple effect that keeps this work moving. 🙌

Now that was a fun day. 🎉🙌

The BOMA St. Louis, IREM St. Louis, and IFMA St. Louis Expo brought the energy, and these photos capture so much of what made the day special.

You could feel the 20-year celebration all around the room. The glowing EXPO letters set the tone, and exhibitors really leaned into the moment with creative booths, fun themes, giveaways, and great conversation from start to finish.

We loved seeing booths from St. Louis Cleaning & Restoration, GardaWorld Security Services, Full Care, Royal Papers Facility Solutions, Swinter Group, Harris Consulting Engineering, Buildingstars Commercial Cleaning Solutions, Ascent Elevators, Western Specialty Contractors, Woodard, SERVPRO Team Thole/Hulsey, McConnell & Associates, Midwest Elevator, and Hughes Customat Mats. There was so much personality in the room, and that made it even more fun to walk through and connect.

This is the kind of story that reminds you how much access matters. 💚

Maya Ramirez was at a crossroads in her career. She knew she wanted to grow. She wanted to learn more, open new doors, and earn her CPM. But with her employer only paying for one educational class a year, that dream was looking like an eight plus year climb.

Then she received a Donald M. Furbush, CPM Scholarship through the IREM Foundation, and everything changed.

With that support, Maya was able to earn her CPM in just three years. Even more incredible, she shared that she’s seen a 70 percent increase in compensation tied directly to that journey. That’s not just career growth. That’s life changing momentum. 🙌

And now she’s paying it forward. Maya’s a leader in her local chapter and hopes to work with universities and students to help more people discover IREM and everything the Foundation makes possible.
