MAN KILLED IN ST. LOUIS SHOOTING IDENTIFIED BY FAMILY AS LOCAL RAPPER BIG WAYNE

ST. LOUIS — An adult man was killed in a late-night shooting in St. Louis, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said District 6 officers responded to a shooting in the 5600 block of Hiller Place at approximately 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide detectives have been requested to investigate.

Family members and friends have identified the victim as Dwayne Murphy, better known throughout St. Louis as Big Wayne or Big Weezy. Tributes have continued to pour in from loved ones, friends, fellow artists, and supporters mourning his loss.

Big Weezy was known throughout the St. Louis music scene for his talent, authenticity, and the energy he brought wherever he went.

It's especially heartbreaking because we knew Big Weezy to be full of life, undeniably talented, and someone who truly loved being a father. He had a big heart and left a lasting impression on so many people in our community.

It's a painful reminder that we continue to lose far too many fathers, sons, brothers, and loved ones to violence. Every life lost leaves behind grieving families, broken friendships, and communities searching for answers.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information has been released by police at this time.
