Week 45 of the Squeaky Chicken Mile! πŸ”πŸŽ°

The Squeaky Chicken went to Las Vegas! I might be less weird if I had a squeaky chicken-patterned outfit... πŸ‘€ You better believe I'm submitting multiple designs to the contest with ChicknLegs πŸ˜‰

I ran a mile down the south end of the Strip and somehow managed to see the Statue of Liberty, Excalibur, the MGM lion, giant M&Ms, the New York-New York roller coaster, a giant Coca-Cola bottle, a GIANT ROOSTER, and approximately 47 other things that are completely normal in Vegas. πŸ˜‚

Honestly, I'm not sure there's a better city for an inflatable chicken.

Where should the Squeaky Chicken go next? πŸ”πŸ‘‡

Week 44 of the Squeaky Chicken Mile! πŸ” Still waiting for ChicknLegs to make a squeaky chicken pattern...

This week the chicken went shopping at The District! We checked out some cool statues, wandered past Mini Fig, scoped out the restaurants and brewery, and squeaked our way past a whole lot of shops.

Then I passed some people having a very serious-looking meeting out front... so I squeaked at them! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

That got me thinking... crashing a corporate meeting sounds fun, but if I do that, I'm going to end up with a criminal record. πŸ˜‚

Just another completely normal mile.

Where should the Squeaky Chicken explore next? πŸ”πŸ‘‡

BONUS CHICKEN CONTENT πŸ” Apparently one mile wasn't enough.

So the Chicken Mile became Chicken Mile XXL ... Extra Extra Long. πŸ”πŸ˜‚

I stopped for a picture, accidentally added some bonus mileage, got a -6 performance rating from Garmin, and decided this absolutely deserved to be a bonus episode.

Welcome to Week 43.5.

The chicken regrets nothing.

Guess what? Week 44's chicken video hit a snag... vacation vibes took over! πŸ–οΈπŸ” Instead of stressing, I chose family fun...

Guess what? Week 44's chicken video hit a snag... vacation vibes took over! πŸ–οΈπŸ” Instead of stressing, I chose family fun over editing. But don’t worry, double the chicken miles are coming soon! Big shenanigans are in the works because, yes, the chicken joined the vacation! πŸ“βœ¨

Stay tuned for the fun!

Week 43 of the Squeaky Chicken Mile! πŸ”

This week I took the chicken to River's Edge Park for a mile around the lake... with a little detour down one of the VERY long, narrow wooden bridges. πŸ˜‚

The real discovery of the day was all the bat boxes scattered around the trees along the trail. πŸ¦‡ Which may or may not have sent me down a rabbit hole of telling stories about a very memorable trip to Belize. Bats are awesome!

A few people stopped for chicken pictures; the trail was peaceful, and the chicken got to do some exploring.

Not every mile needs to be chaotic. Sometimes you just need a lake, a bridge, some bats, and an inflatable chicken. πŸ”πŸ¦‡

P.S. You gotta guess what pattern I wore in the chicken today! I'll pin it in the comments, so guess before you look!

P.P.S. I could stop running in a giant chicken and start running in some sweet gear if ChicknLegs would make a squeaky chicken pattern outfit πŸ˜‰

Week 42 of the Squeaky Chicken Mile! πŸ” We demand Squeaky Chicken pattern ChicknLegs outfits!

After running the Market Mile, I took the Squeaky Chicken to St. Louis Union Station for a post-race mile.

First, I helped coax some of the tiniest runners to the finish line of the kids' race. πŸ₯Ή Then things took a turn when I discovered the extremely questionable mermaids at the fountain across the street. πŸ§œβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚ A lot is happening in that fountain.

The mama mermaid's face says it all. She is in that moment of post-rage calm with those twin troublemakers. I'd be afraid if that was my mom's look! 🀣

And yes, the Squeaky Chicken eventually made it back to Union Station for the post-race festivities... but that's a separate video. πŸ‘€

Where should the chicken go next?

Week 41 of the Squeaky Chicken Mile! πŸ”πŸš’

This week's secret mission: run past the firehouse 10 times and see if I could get the firefighters to come outside and meet the chicken.

Spoiler: EPIC FAIL. πŸ˜‚

Just before I hit the halfway point, the sirens went on, and the firefighters took off to go save some lives. Turns out they had more important things to do than come outside and giggle at an inflatable chicken. πŸ˜‚

I did get plenty of honks and cheers from passing cars, though!

And yes, my primary mission remains unchanged:

ChicknLegs, MAKE US A SQUEAKY CHICKEN PATTERN OUTFIT. πŸ”

Until then... the chicken keeps running.

What should the Squeaky Chicken's next secret mission be? πŸ‘‡

The package has arrived, which means Great Cycle Challenge season is almost here! πŸš΄πŸ’›

This September marks my 8th year riding to raise money for Children's Cancer Research Fund. My goal is to ride 500+ miles throughout the month while raising funds to help kids fighting cancer. Let's aim to beat last year! It'll be tough, we rode 641 miles and raised $3,648! I think we can do it! πŸ’ͺ

Getting this package every year makes everything feel real: the jersey, the stickers, the shirt... It's the official start of a month that's become one of my favorite traditions, and my largest charity event of the year.

New this year: A few months ago Chris and I decided to invest in a Wahoo Kickr Bike Pro, and I am in the process of getting my streaming setup into the gym so we can livestream from the bike! I haven't decided on a schedule yet, but I will be live streaming from the bike at least twice a week all September.

I'll be sharing the rides, the highs, the lows, and the journey all month long. Thanks for coming along for the ride! πŸ’›πŸš΄

I know this is an unpopular opinion... but I think marathon medals have gotten a little out of hand. πŸ˜…πŸ…

I love earning a finisher's medal, and every single one represents months of training and a huge accomplishment. But lately it feels like races are competing to make the biggest medal instead of the best one.

Give me a medal that's thoughtful, unique, and actually fits on my medal rack over one that's the size of a dinner plate.

Do you prefer big, flashy medals or smaller, classic designs? Let's hear your hot takes! πŸ‘‡

Week 40 of the Squeaky Chicken Mile! πŸ”

This week's mile doubled as my cooldown after Summer Speedwork, complete with cheering runners from inside the inflatable chicken suit and continuing my completely reasonable campaign for a squeaky chicken patterned outfit. πŸ˜„

The demands remain simple:
πŸ” Step 1: ChicknLegs makes the squeaky chicken pattern.
πŸ‘― Step 2: We buy and wear the squeaky chicken pattern.
πŸ’Έ Step 3: Win-Win.
πŸƒ I'll happily keep running miles in the suit until then.

One mile, one squeak, and one smile at a time!

Where should the Squeaky Chicken Mile go next? πŸ‘‡
