Victims’ Families of Uvalde Tragedy Sue UPS, FedEx in New Filing

Several members of victims’ families of the Uvalde, Texas, Robb Elementary School tragedy have filed a lawsuit blaming UPS and FedEx for shipping the rifle and component accessories used by the deranged murderer to commit the heinous crime. In their complaint, plaintiffs argue that FedEx shipped the AR-15-style rifle used by the murderer after he purchased the firearm online and had it delivered to a local gun shop in Uvalde where it was transferred and he picked it up. According a Texas state legislative report, the murderer purchased the firearm a day after his eighteenth birthday and it was FedEx’s legal obligation, the plaintiffs argue, to verify his age before shipping the package which the say it did not do. Plaintiffs also argue UPS shipped a trigger system to the murderer but investigators could not determine whether that system was actually used in the crime. Plaintiffs allege that FedEx and UPS violated state and federal laws, including one that regulates the interstate commerce, sale and possession of fi****ms, in addition to the companies' own internal safeguards. UPS said in a statement, “Our hearts go out to the victims of this tragedy, but the lawsuit has no merit and we will defend accordingly.” FedEx made similar remarks.
