Parents—football matters, but so does balance. ⚖️⚽

If training is starting to take priority over school, family time, or just being a kid… it might be time to pause and reflect.

Children need rest.
They need freedom.
They need a life beyond the pitch.

If they choose to play every day because they love it—brilliant.
But if they’re being pushed nonstop and it's taking a toll, it’s time to scale it back.

Because long-term success doesn’t come from pressure or burnout.
It comes from passion, joy, and a childhood well-lived.

Let them fall in love with the game—on their terms. 💙

It's a pretty wonderful feeling when we get to see our AYSO 673 players still reaching new heights.

Some of these young women have played in our program since they were in 6U, and some of them will be with us for as long as we can have them. It's one of the the most important goals that we strive for: help them grow and learn the game, keep them loving the sport, and make soccer accessible to everyone.

Congrats on a great season, ladies! We are, and we always have been, extremely proud of you!

So many parents that we know give up the things they'd like for themselves so that their children can pursue their childhood dreams. We wouldn't change it for a second.

Behind every player is a parent who gave it all...

A reminder that our volunteers are still humans, with complicated lives, trying to help your children still play the game:

Before you hit send on that negative text or email to or about your coach, or before you decide to complain from your spectator's seat and spread negativity, please take a moment to pause and reflect.

That person you’re messaging or badmouthing behind their backs? They’re not an employee. They don’t get paid for what they do. They stepped up because the team needed someone, and they chose to give their time — not because they had to, but because they care, and because it brings them joy (even when it’s hard).

Have you ever stopped to think about what might be going on in their life right now? The pressures of work, family, and everything else they juggle? Many of them already know there are things they could do better, whether in coaching or admin, but they’re doing their best, fitting it all in between their own commitments.

Our coaches and referees are the people who raised their hand when no one else did. They’re the ones who keep showing up. And sometimes, even the most well-meaning message can land at just the wrong moment — and feel like the final straw. If they stepped away because of that message… who would step in? Maybe someone. Maybe no one.

Your coaches and referees are in most cases, a parent, a colleague, a friend — trying to keep the wheels turning while managing their own busy life. They’ll forget things. They’ll make mistakes. But they’re human.

So, before you send that message or complain behind their backs, maybe take a breath. Maybe start doing this instead:

"Hey Coach, thanks for everything you do. Is there anything I can help with?"

It might just make all the difference.

Shout out to the 14UB Reapers!! They fought hard this weekend at the Island Cup, and they never compromised their sportsmanship, effort, or their team mentality.

Say what you want to say about AYSO, but we really do work hard to teach our kids lessons beyond the pitch. This team, including their coaches, families, and players, showed us once again that they are WINNERS every single day, because they prioritize skills and teamwork. They never compromised their values, not once. These boys will keep growing to be GOOD HUMANS and GREAT Soccer players!!
