We are saddened to share the news that one of our long time coaches and board members lost her husband over the weekend. Our thoughts are with Lindsey, Aiden, and the rest of the Shovan family during this hard time.

Read the obituary of Aaron James Shovan from East China, MI. Leave your condolences and send flowers to the family to show you care.

Email reminders regarding volunteer needs have been sent to AYSO 673 registered and wait listed families. Please check your email settings, your spam folders, and look for reminders from [email protected].

We've had several people indicate that they want to join our volunteer squad, yet they have not registered withing ayso673.org to let us know that they are actively volunteering. Until that happens, players will remain on the wait list until we have volunteers to fill coaching and refereeing positions.

At this time, we are in need of:

8U Co-Ed Coaches
10U Boys & Girls Coaches
10U Regional Referees
12U Boys Coaches
12U Boys Regional Referees
19U Girls Assistant Coach

AYSO provides training and certification for all of these positions, free of charge. All we need is your time and your willingness to try something that may be new or different. Please contact us at [email protected] with questions regarding volunteerism.

Thank you!

Over the weekend one of our former Board Members and Volunteers passed away in a tragic accident. Dave Atkins served as Treasurer for our board, his wife, Jenn was also a Board Member and Coach, and all of his children played within our region for many years.

Dave was a large part of the local soccer community as well as part of the Marine City Little League family. Our hearts are with Jenn and his 4 children during this time.

If you would like to help support Jenn and their family we have included a link for the meal train set up by Marine City Little League.

As many have heard, the Atkins family unexpectedly lost Dave Atkins II, a loving husband and father, this past week. A meal train has been set up to support his wife, Jenn, & their 4 kids during this difficult time. The whole Marine City area is feeling this loss, as Dave has been a pillar of the co...

It's a pretty wonderful feeling when we get to see our AYSO 673 players still reaching new heights.

Some of these young women have played in our program since they were in 6U, and some of them will be with us for as long as we can have them. It's one of the the most important goals that we strive for: help them grow and learn the game, keep them loving the sport, and make soccer accessible to everyone.

Congrats on a great season, ladies! We are, and we always have been, extremely proud of you!

A reminder that our volunteers are still humans, with complicated lives, trying to help your children still play the game:

Before you hit send on that negative text or email to or about your coach, or before you decide to complain from your spectator's seat and spread negativity, please take a moment to pause and reflect.

That person you’re messaging or badmouthing behind their backs? They’re not an employee. They don’t get paid for what they do. They stepped up because the team needed someone, and they chose to give their time — not because they had to, but because they care, and because it brings them joy (even when it’s hard).

Have you ever stopped to think about what might be going on in their life right now? The pressures of work, family, and everything else they juggle? Many of them already know there are things they could do better, whether in coaching or admin, but they’re doing their best, fitting it all in between their own commitments.

Our coaches and referees are the people who raised their hand when no one else did. They’re the ones who keep showing up. And sometimes, even the most well-meaning message can land at just the wrong moment — and feel like the final straw. If they stepped away because of that message… who would step in? Maybe someone. Maybe no one.

Your coaches and referees are in most cases, a parent, a colleague, a friend — trying to keep the wheels turning while managing their own busy life. They’ll forget things. They’ll make mistakes. But they’re human.

So, before you send that message or complain behind their backs, maybe take a breath. Maybe start doing this instead:

"Hey Coach, thanks for everything you do. Is there anything I can help with?"

It might just make all the difference.
