It's CLEAN EATING WEEK: Monday August 29- Friday September 2
I know I need to regroup, focus on eating better. Often just a few days of me eating healthy will give me the determination to do better. I don't always feel better in that few days. Sugar is a tough one to kick and I often have headaches and lower energy, but if I stay with it by the end of the week, I start to feel better and much more resolved.
You really can not outwork bad eating, we think we can and those pounds can slowly creep on.
Still focusing on being positive with ourselves, you mess up on a meal...just refocus on the next meal and start again. Be kind to yourself.
YES!!!! I can eat!
Fruits and vegetables, the bright leafy ones are great. Raw is better, but sometimes we want to feel that we are eating more of a "meal", so steam, sautéed, bake is great. Try to vary the fruits and vegetables. Melons and berries are great. Broccoli, green beans, a yam, Brussels sprouts, tomatoes...
Lean proteins: chicken or turkey breast, fish, shrimp, a very lean steak. Grill, bake, broil. Add mushrooms, and sautéed squash and green beans- a great meal.
Legumes and nuts, be careful with nuts. They are healthy and great in smaller amounts...not good to eat like a cup of them. Adding a few pumpkin seeds and some black, white, kidney, gorbanza beans, hard boiled egg to a loaded veg salad adds variety and keeps you full. Add grilled chicken.
Eggs, eat them. I like to eat 1 whole egg with a few egg whites with steamed asparagus and mushrooms. Just be creative, add lots of different vegetables and have a grapefruit- it's a great breakfast. Hard boil them, have them on hand through out the week.
Protein shake. Make it with water and ice and add some fruit in it. Sometimes I add a small amount of vanilla or almond extract. I really like my vegetable based protein. I add frozen cherries and ice and a tiny bit of almond extract.
1 gallon of water. Start 1st thing when you wake up. Drink all through out the day.
Excersise everyday for an hour.
What do I put on my salad? Try just the simple olive oil and vinegar in a small amount, add pepper.
Can I have salt and pepper? Yes, Sea salt is healthier. And have small doses.
Can I have butter. You can eat what you want, but for this program, not this week. To sautéed your vegs. Start off on low heat and let the moister of the vegetables sautéed them. Add garlic, any herbs you like.
Dairy? No. Often dairy is hard to digest. Just try for a few days to give your system a rest.
Grains, only one. Quinoa. It's the healthiest grain with a good protein base.
Soda, of course not!
Sugar, only from the fruit and vegetables naturally. Try your best, it's in so much of our food, but with the list I gave you, you would be eating much more raw and whole foods, avoiding processed sugar.
You got this! We are doing it together. Have a good recipe or something that has helped, share it with us all! Just getting sugar out if my diet for 5 days will be a tremendous challenge for me!
See you in the am.
