Friday night the Barrett Coito Racing team ventured over to Kalamazoo Speedway for the “Modifieds Return to the Zoo” event.
We unloaded the No. 5 DG Performance Modified with Jeff Ganus behind the wheel. We also had honorary crew chief and latest BCR winner Knox Coito turning the wrenches for the night.
Jeff started the day strong in practice, laying down a 14.123 lap time that placed him second on the practice charts. After coming in for a few adjustments from Knox before qualifying, Jeff improved to a 14.111 lap time, putting the team third overall in the 19-car field.
Following the invert, Jeff would start outside row three for the 51-lap feature event. He ran inside the top five through the first half of the race and, after being held up behind the second- through fourth-place cars, was eventually able to work his way into second place. Jeff then set his sights on race winner Ricky LaDuke, who had built nearly a half-track advantage during the long green-flag run. In the caution-free feature, Jeff closed the gap late, but it was just a little too late to make a move for the win.
The team was very happy with the speed and handling of the car and feels we’ll be even stronger at the next race. We couldn’t do it without the support of our sponsors, fans, family, and crew.
Thank you for all the support, and we hope to see everyone at the next race!
