I am not sure how it has happened but 5 weeks later, there are people who have no idea that Gary Tolbert had a heart attack. This is the only way I know to try to pass the word. On June 9, we went to Oklahoma for my nephew's wedding. Gary had some issues breathing while we were there but we thought it was allergy induced asthma. We came home early on June 10. At 9:15 we went to bed and a little after 9:30, he got up.and couldn't breathe. He tried to take a breathing treatment but couldn't get air in. Then he tried to take his inhaler and that didn't help. I asked if he needed to go to the E.R. and he told me to call 911. I knew we were in trouble then. During the 17 min. 911 call he passed out twice and eventually quit breathing and began to aspirate than turn grey-blue. Cooper Tolbert helped me get him to the floor and began doing CPR until the first responders got there. On the way to the hospital he quit breathing twice. He aspirated when he quit breathing and caused pneumonia. While we were in the hospital they did a precautionary angiogram, where they found an 80% blockage in the left anterior descending artery (LAD), or widow maker. We were in the hospital for a week. He will be off till atleast the middle of Aug., till he is released after cardiology therapy. Please pray for him he is very slow and tired and impatient. It has shaken us all up emotionally. Also pray for his disability to finally go through, there was a misfile so we still have not recieved his partial check. There is a lot of uncertainty and unknow in our lives right now and we just need lots of prayer to stay focused on God and not on the unknown. I hope that anyone who didn't know, now does and that any ?s were answered. Gary is home and would love visits as I am working and so is Cooper. Just call 1st to make sure he is awake or home from Dr. Visits. Hillside Ladies.
