Fall planting, spring planting, summer planting. Doesn’t seem to matter around here. It just doesn’t rain when there’s seed in the ground.
NO RAIN - NO SIGNIFICANT RAIN IN SITE
It isn't surprising that the drought conditions have worsened in south central Kentucky. Currently, 95% of Casey County is in the extreme drought, Russell County 48.50%, Adair County, 45.92% and Pulaski 29.59% respectfully.
I spoke with Kermit Burton, a local farmer, and he gave me some grim news if we don't have rain soon. His story and some rainfall comparison to last year is in today's Times Journal.
It is important to give a comprehensive outlook to this situation since this affects everyone because without rain, gardens and farm crops won't grow. Get a Times Journal for some interesting information!
While it will take several inches of slow rain to dent the drought, chances of precipitation do increase as we enter the end of the month.
