Congratulations to Cayden Ernst!

Cayden was recently named one of the Northwestern Football Warriors of the Week, and it’s easy to see why. His commitment, work ethic, and leadership continue to stand out.

During that same time, Cayden has also been helping lead our basketball program throughout the month of July.

Whether it’s in open gym or at workouts, or encouraging those around him, he has consistently set the standard.

We’re proud to have young men who embrace the challenge of being multi-sport athletes and represent Northwestern with character and pride.

Coach Brandon Peterson arrives at Northwestern with 92 career head coaching victories and the rare distinction of being one of only two coaches in Clark County history to earn Coach of the Year honors in both boys’ and girls’ basketball. His career has been defined by building successful programs, developing student-athletes, and creating cultures centered on discipline, accountability, and excellence.

Peterson began his head coaching career at Catholic Central, where he inherited a rebuilding program and steadily transformed it into a conference contender. After winning three games in his first season, his teams improved each year before producing three consecutive 17-win seasons and capturing an Ohio Heritage Conference South Division Championship. His leadership earned him Clark County Coach of the Year recognition.

He later became the head coach at Emmanuel Christian, where he continued his reputation for program building by improving the team from 11 wins in his first season to 19 wins in his second, once again earning Clark County Coach of the Year honors.

Most recently, Peterson served as an assistant coach at Springfield High School, contributing to one of the area’s premier basketball programs while helping develop collegiate-level talent and a championship culture.

Beyond basketball, Peterson is a Youth Pastor, mentor, and business owner,. He believes coaching extends far beyond the scoreboard, viewing basketball as a vehicle to teach leadership, resilience, teamwork, and character.

His mission is to help young men become successful not only as players, but as students, leaders, husbands, fathers, and members of their communities.

Peterson and his wife, Krista, are the proud parents of six children Together, they are excited to join the Northwestern family and invest in the lives of its student-athletes.
