Cooper has been swimming since he was three years old, when he first began lessons at South Run. Since then, he has continued to build his skills through years of swimming, including participation on swim teams throughout his childhood. In addition to swimming, Cooper has also enjoyed playing soccer and staying active through sports.

Cooper currently attends George Mason University, where he is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He enjoys helping others, giving back to his community, and working with children and families. Cooper is excited to share his love of swimming while helping swimmers build confidence, develop strong water safety skills, and achieve their goals in a fun and supportive environment.

This month, we're helping our swimmers think about how they can stay safe in and around the water all summer long.

When you visit Kids First, stop by our lobby tree and add a sun by completing the sentence:

Whether it's swimming with a Water Watcher, listening to the lifeguard, or always asking permission before getting in the pool, every water safety habit helps keep summer fun and safe.

We were so impressed by the creativity, thoughtfulness, and enthusiasm shown in this year’s Water Safety Coloring & Poem Contest. Our swimmers did an amazing job sharing what water safety means to them, and choosing winners was no easy task!

Swimming lessons are more than an activity — they’re a lifesaving skill. 💙

Drowning can happen quickly and quietly, which is why water safety starts long before summer vacations, pool parties, and beach days. Teaching children how to swim gives them confidence, independence, and the skills they may one day need to save their own life.

Every child deserves the opportunity to feel safe and confident in and around the water.

Because swimming isn’t just another sport.

Dylan learned to swim at the age of 6 when he joined the Hunt Valley Swim Team as a Lil Ray! He has been swimming as a stingray every summer since then! He fell in love with teaching swim when he first started coaching for his summer pool. He currently attends West Springfield High School. Outside of coaching swim, Dylan loves volunteering with children with special needs. His favorite part about coaching swim is watching his students improve their skills as a swimmer under his instruction. Dylan is certified to teach levels 1-8. He is also a DST coach, Deckhand, and certified lifeguard!
