Eastside Barbell Eastside Barbell, home of Eastside Barbell Weightlifting Club, is a premier Olympic Weightlifting gym.

A premier strength and conditioning facility, that is clean, functional, and outfitted with top of the line equipment. We provide an "open gym" environment, for our members, which is suited for athletes who perform independent functional fitness and strength workouts. We are the home of the Gee Strength USAW club and have weightlifting classes from beginner to competitor level.

Continuing in recognizing LGBTQ+ owned clubs in the Pacific Northwest WSO, meet

Eastside Barbell is a female- and LGBTQ+ owned and operated Olympic Weightlifting gym in Springfield, OR. We strive to provide a safe, welcoming, supportive environment for people of all identities and ages to train in Olympic lifting, powerlifting, or general strength and conditioning. The gym was opened in November 2017 by co-owners and life partners Melissa Doherty and Lauren Hatmaker. Melissa is a retired ER physician, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and USAW National Coach. Lauren owns her own mortgage company, Eugene Mortgage Brokers, and is a USAW L2 Coach, as well as an IWF Category 2 Technical Official. She is also president of the PNW WSO Board. Together we enjoy competing, coaching, and mentoring athletes and coaches from all walks of life, in the sport we love.

Read post:-) we are calling on our community to see who would be interested in volunteer work to help with state record keeping & creation and delivery of digital certificates. Items required would be access to the Internet, a computer to be able to access Google sheets, some type of program in order to create certificates IE office,illustrator, Canva etc, familiarity with Google sheets and access to USAW BARS. As part of our mission statement to foster the sport of Olympic style weightlifting and its diverse and inclusive community, we are proud to announce coaching development scholarship opportunities for BIPoC and Women within the PNW WSO. We will award 8 total scholarships 4 BIPoC and 4 Women’s.

The emphasis here is to award a scholarship to individuals who can demonstrate a commitment to growing the sport of weightlifting in their communities. Applications are available for BIPoC and WOMEN. Details are available as our application window is March 1-31st 2023. LINK IN BIO!

We had a blast hosting our 2023 winter masters weightlifting camp last weekend. There was lots of science, technique work, lifting, and a non-sanctioned competition to practice counting attempts, competing, coaching and how to become / train as a technical official.

Next seminar is 7/8-7/9/2023 and will be limited to 12 non-Eastside members. Registration on Eventbrite opens 2/1/2023.
