Our Choctaw herd has bloodlines from the Choctaw and Cherokee Native American in Oklahoma. Ancestors of these lovely Indian Ponies Pearl the mother and Feh) her daughter (carried the Native American to Oklahome during the Trail of Tears. Native American hid some of the ponies in the Black Jack Mountians and saved their horses. On this day we honor the Native Americans and their ponies. ‼The Latissimus Dorsi muscle is a large, triangularly shaped back muscle that helps you do things like pull-ups, swimming and even breathing. It functions to stabilize your back while extending your shoulders. This muscle can be injured during throwing or pulling‼

In the horse……
The bars of the saddle or the panels (depending on the structure of your saddle) sits on the origin of the Latissimus Dorsi. I hope this illustration helps you better understand the damage we can cause when the saddle doesn’t fit correctly. A sore Laitissimus Dorsi for a horse can cause them to avoid shoulder flexion & limb retraction, which can be mistaken for lameness. If this goes unsolved, it can cause permanent damage due to compensation. Worse case, it can cause loads of money for training, getting rid of the horse, confusion during “correction” for the horse, frustration, etc.
Always analyze the entire situation before you label your horse as bad or lame.
