Welp, the First Annual Springfield Battle of the Badges Hockey Tournament is in the bag. I think everyone had a great time and there was a lot of great hockey. Big congrats to our 2 champions from each pool. Nashville topped Orlando to take home the Pool A championship axe while Evansville beat Wichita for the Pool B championship axe.

Thanks to everyone that helped in anyway with planning, volunteering, playing, watching, supporting, or anything else that I forgot to add here. We are already excited for the Second Annual Springfield Battle of the Badges Hockey Tournament, which will be on August 20-22, 2027. Hope to see you all there.

I will post more pictures from the weekend soon, but for now it's time to take a nap.

This is what it’s about! I appreciate these guys coming down and playing in the tournament. I’m already excited for the Second Annual Springfield Battle of the Badges Hockey Tournament!

Evansville is a few minutes out from taking the ice for the Championship game against Wichita Fire at Brightspeed Ice Park for Local 152 Hockey Club Battle of the Badges Hockey Tournament.

As much fun as we have had, this game is dedicated to something way bigger. Beth Braden was at every single game of ours and our biggest supporter. Today, our boys skate for you Beth!

Day 2 is in the books and goals were scored, penalty minutes were served, sticks were broken, and good times were had.

Tomorrow is the final day of the Springfield Battle of the Badges Hockey Tournament and the Championship games are set. Orlando Fire will take on Nashville fire for the Pool A championship game at 8:30am and The Wichita Flying Monkeys will take on Evansville First Responders for the Pool B Championship at 9:15am.

Come out and catch the action at Brightspeed Ice Park. The schedule has been adjusted a bit from previous posts to accommodate some things, so please check the schedule below to see when the games are happening. Hope to see you all there.

Had day 1 yesterday and everyone had such a great time. Great hockey was played. We are getting ready for day 2 and hope to see you all here at Brightspeed Ice Rink. The schedule is below if you want to see a particular team.

Concessions will be supplied and worked by the local Springfield Spirit Kiddos to help raise money for their team.

Also, huge thanks to Works of Art based out of Branson, MO. They got the shirts made for us and they look awesome. Thanks for the support and come out to support all the teams, sponsors, first responders, and local hockey.

Our next sponsor is going to be our beer garden for the tournament. Located just across the street from the ice rink and also in our old Fire Station 1, this is a great place to hang out with indoor and outdoor seating, live music, food trucks, and good beer.

They are also going to donate $1 of all sales of their charity beer to the tournament. The weekend's charity beer is going to be Boondock Brown Ale: A light-bodied Brown Ale with hints of chocolate and coffee - a great gateway to darker beers, enjoyable year-round.

The food trucks for this weekend are as follows:

Friday- Tortuga Torta (5-10pm)
Saturday- The Deck Pizza (2-10pm)
Sunday- El Sabor (2-3:30pm)

Our next sponsor has stepped up once again to support your local first responders. Springfield Stamp and Engraving graciously donated not only the cup that we will use for years to come in our annual charity game, but have now donated the trophies that we will hand out for the First Annual Springfield Battle of the Badges Hockey Tournament.

The Championship Axe will go to the winner of each pool, so 2 teams will be taking home the axe to display for all to see. Springfield Stamp and Engraving always does such a great job on whatever you need them to do, and they knocked it out of the park with these axes.

Come out this weekend (August 28-30) and watch all 10 teams that have traveled from across the country to try and win the championship axe!

IT'S TOURNAMENT WEEK!!! We are excited to host the First Annual Springfield Battle of the Badges Hockey Tournament this coming weekend (August 28-30) at Brightspeed Ice Park.

The final two teams to announce are our own local fire and police teams. The Local 152 Hockey Club will be entering 2 teams into the tournament (Local 152 Hockey Club and Southwest Missouri Firefighters). These teams are comprised of firefighters from all over the Ozarks. Also, your Springfield Police Department is entering a team.

We are super excited to get on the ice with some old friends and teams and also new friends and teams that we have never played before. It's free to watch, so come out and join your local first responder teams in the Springfield Battle of the Badges Hockey Tournament.
