Eugene School of Karate Eugene School of Karate welcomes you to our ESK page! Eugene School of Karate is owned and operated by Albert Roy.

ESK opened for business in the fall of 1992. It had been his goal to build a martial arts school that offered not only an effective self-defense program for children and adults, but also a comprehensive program of personal growth and development. It would be the emphasis on teaching the life skills of leadership, integrity, goal setting, self-discipline and academic excellence, to name a few, that

would cause the community to respond. Outgrowing the original Eugene facility on Coburg Road, ESK relocated to International Way in North Springfield in 2008 and quickly became one of the largest martial arts school in the State of Oregon. With top of the line training equipment and staff they quickly grew in size during the recession years. Throughout the years ESK developed the largest Homeschooling Martial Arts Program on the West Coast. As well, they developed a first class Parks and Recreation Programs in cooperation with the City Of Eugene for preschool and kinder age children. In 2011, they downsized and relocated to the gymnasium inside Grace Community Fellowship to refocus on the quality of students instead of quantity of students and their programs!

A sensei in a hat, on a mat,
Practiced a kick that went tip-tap-tap-tat!
He twirled and he flipped, he hopped in a snap,
And bowed to the gnomes who were taking a nap.
He shouted, “Chop! Block! And jab with a clap!
Don’t let your left foot fall into a trap!”
The students all giggled and rolled on their back,
While learning the moves in their stripey green slacks.
