Our final 8th grade player is Sam Travea! Sam wore #15 sweater this season, and locked down all opponents on defense.

Sam was an integral part of the team's success this season as he played phenomenal defense all season for the Springfield Blue team. Travea finished the season with 1 goal and 5 assists. The unnoticables were visible from the opposition as countless stick checks, blocked shots, and excellent defensive plays fueled the Cougars engine to success this season.

Sam loves the game of hockey and enjoys being a part of the team atmosphere. You can find Sam along the blue line during warmups as he gets his legs loose in a pre-game skate.

Sam greatest Springfield Hockey memory is from last season when he lit the lamp and tied the game during a crucial moment in the playoffs!

Among Sam's goals is to continually improve each and every season.

Thank you for your effort during Middle school, and we wish you the best of luck in high school!

Joey Epperson, #54, Center

Our 8th Grade Springfield Hockey Spotlight continues with #54, Joey Epperson!

Joey Epperson was the Centerpiece to a dominant offensive attack for the Cougars this season. Epperson finished the season with 13 goals, 8 assists, and 1 game winner! Joey was a key contributor for Springfield Blue all season!

Joey 9 years of hockey experience, and is enjoying every minute while on the ice! Epperson's love for the game comes from spending quality time with his teammates, and building friendships that could last a lifetime. In the locker room, you could see Joey jamming to "All of the lights" by Kanye West while taping his stick. Joey always ensures there's a "tape cross" on his stick.

Joey's favorite Springfield Ice Hockey memory takes us back to last season when the club participated in an outdoor hockey game at Spring Mountain. The scene under the lights was an amazing experience! In the future, Epperson hope to one day play an elite level of hockey in College.

Joey wanted to leave the Springfield Hockey community with one statement as he departs for high school:

"I'm the best Hockey player in the Epperson family!"

Ryan Godfrey, RW, #75

Our next 8th grade spotlight will feature the team's leading scorer this season, Ryan Godfrey. He was an integral part of the team this season lining up at Winger. Ryan was simply "En Fuego" all year for Springfield Blue. Godfrey led the team in Goals scored (20) and total points (28). When the offense was on an attack, you'd likely see #75 barreling down the ice to create scoring opportunities for the offense!

Godfrey spent 9 seasons on the ice perfecting his craft of playing hockey for Springfield and the Delco Phantoms. Ryan absolutely loves the fast and intense pace that ice hockey provides each and every time he's on the ice. Among his favorite memories include the seasons in which his team advanced to the school playoffs. Ryan loves the chance to compete in big moments for his team.

Ryan vows to continue playing ice hockey at the next level. We wish Ryan the best of luck high school!

In the Development National division, Maxwell was absolutely phenomenal. Among goalies with at least 10 games played, Timmy led the division in Goals Against Average with a 2.00 GAA! Maxwell finished the season with a .898 save percentage, and had 3 shutouts! Timmy was a huge contributor towards the team's 13-2-2 record, and should be proud of his effort this season!

Timmy's favorite memories from playing Springfield Ice Hockey include the seasons in which the team's made it to the championship game. Before each game, you can find Maxwell by the nearest wall practicing reaction drills with a tennis ball while listening to his favorite jams in his headphones. Timmy has goals each season of achieving a save percentage over 90%. In the future, Maxwell has aspirations of playing college hockey. Timmy loves the game of hockey and really enjoys playing goalie. Andrew Kubiak: Center. #19

Andrew Kubiak is a 7 year veteran in the hockey world. Andrew proudly wears #19 for the Cougars while playing Center for Springfield Blue. Kubiak was a solid contributor to the Cougars offensive attack. He finished the season with 3 goals and 5 assists.

Andrew loves the camaraderie that's involved with the team. When asked why he loves the game of hockey: "It's fun! I enjoy being part of the team". Among Andrew's pre-game rituals include giving the blade a fresh tape job. The song that gets the blood flowing is "Trendsetter".

The next hockey goal for Andrew is to make the Varsity team at Springfield as a Sophomore. We wish you the best of luck as you take the big leap to high school!
