We know โactive recoveryโ sounds like a contradiction but our bodies are designed to move. So when taking a rest day make sure youโre still moving. ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
So what is active recovery and why is it so important?
Active recovery is a workout that is performed at a lower intensity, reduced power or lesser resistance than your regular workout. It helps with muscle recovery, soreness, muscle rebuilding and helps prevent us from doing nothing for 1 whole day and letting it turn into 2 days, a week, or even more.
The best thing about active recovery is it can basically be anything! Walking your dog ๐, a leisure bike ride with the family ๐ฒ, a nice kayak ride ๐ฃโโ๏ธ... you get the point.
