RIP
What are we doing, like really, what are we doing?
Have we become so politically ravenous that we can’t just have differences of perspective, of opinion anymore without resorting to violence? Is that the world we live in now?
You don’t have to like the man because of his rhetoric, his thoughts, or his political views and agenda. That’s one thing. But try to kill him… for what, exactly? To achieve what? It doesn’t even make sense.
We’ve lost the plot in this country if we can’t put our ideologies out there without the fear of being slaughtered. That’s a deep psychological issue—where you can’t even speak without the threat of death.
This country was founded on free speech, and now we can’t even do that because someone might not like our rhetoric? They want to kill us for it?
The same person who would defend your ability to say things he disagreed with, with the same fervor he speaks his own opinion—you try to kill him for that?
We’ve got to do better. I get passion. I get vigilance. But what is this? What are we doing?
