September is Self Improvement Month. But for athletes, improvement needs the right target.
Getting stronger is a great goal.
But if your goal is to become a better athlete, strength is only one piece of the puzzle.
Can you produce force?
Can you express it quickly?
Can you absorb it, redirect it, and use it in different directions?
Can you react when the game doesn’t go exactly as planned?
Because your sport doesn’t care how much you can lift if that strength doesn’t transfer when it’s time to perform.
So this month, don’t just ask:
“How can I get stronger?”
Ask:
“What do I need to develop to become a better athlete?”
That might mean strength. It might mean power, elasticity, deceleration, change of direction, or movement.
The goal is bigger than improving your numbers in the gym.
Build the athlete behind the sport.
That’s the GRIT difference.
