Good Afternoon Baseball Parents & fans! Below is a shortened letter sent out to teams regarding a Golf Tournament hosted by the Lion's Club this coming Saturday. Proceeds will go towards the Lion's Field upgrades.
Please consider supporting them as they support our project!
Hello Youth Baseball Parents & Coaches!
Thank you all for a very smooth baseball season. We had another very successful year!
For the past 3 years, we have been discussing different ideas and options for Lions Field to best serve our baseball program. After much discussion and consideration. our plan is to move the field north, toward the dam about 50 feet. We would put in a new backstop, baseline fences, new infield, and a regraded outfield. The motivation for these changes is to allow both Lions’ Field and the HS baseball field to safely have a game at the same time. These renovations would provide a safer field with higher fences to protect spectators, players, and cars.
We were successful in receiving a grant from the Minnesota Twins, and the Spring Valley School District is matching the MN Twins grant. The Lions’ Club is going to contribute their proceeds from their upcoming golf tournament on August 10. We have also received other donations and grants from local people and organizations. We have some very generous people donating services and money to help us make this happen. But we need to raise an additional $9000 start this project.
If you are interested in contributing in any way, there are a couple easy ways to do that. First, you could golf in the Lions Club Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 10 at the Spring Valley Golf Course. It is a 4-person scramble format. The cost is $85.00/person to play. Contact Scott Mathison at [email protected] to play. A second option would be to make a monetary donation to Cardinal Youth Baseball. Contact Eric Johnson at 715-778-3185 or [email protected] of you have any questions!
Respectfully,
The Youth Baseball Committee
