Yoga poses are a true work of art. They take time, dedication, strength, + perseverance. At some point we have all looked at a pose + said “I could NEVER do that”. Almost a decade in, I can say that this practice will show you all sorts of things that you thought you could never do with your body, mind, + heart.

Crow Pose is a great way to begin to learn the art of arm balances (one “category” of yoga poses). I have a special love for it because it was the major pose CPY (where I trained for be a teacher) had us demo in our classes! This is because it’s a fun, relatively low-stakes way to play around with the wonders of balancing on your hands. This is the “pose of the week” in my JFY classes. I would love to teach it to you!

What is a pose you didn’t “get” at first, but now have mastery over? Even something like Warrior II!) ⬇️

I find Half Moon (Ardha Chandrasana) to be a nice, challenging addition to a yoga sequence.

It is a natural progression from a simple Sun B (think Warrior II ➡️ into this one leg balance position) An important piece of the pose (& very challenging) is to keep your standing toes facing the top of your mat. This will help to keep your bottom hip neutral while you rotate your top hip open.

More of my favorite cues for Half Moon:
- stand tall through your standing leg
- imagine that your back is up against a wall
- press into your block to stack your shoulders
- isometrically push your foot back
- lift up from your abductors (the outside of your leg)

This week, all four JFY classes are working on Half Moon. Between the two types of classes (Vinyasa + Yoga Sculpt) you’ll flow/ mobilize/ strengthen/ + lengthen!

I hope you can make one or all of the classes! (Tues 7:15am, Wedn 7:15am, Thurs 7:15am, Sun 8:15am)

Last one is the best one 💀💀💀

These reviews go wayyy back to when I taught at CPY. It always felt terrifying to be reviewed on Classpass (anyone else remember that feeling?) but hey it kept me workin’ 😂 I am a huge fan of feedback so the 2020 review was something I asked my community after I started teaching virtually during Quarantine. The rest of the statements are things people have said to me after taking class that I absolutely loved & wrote down in my notes app. How freaking funny is the gummy one ‼️

But for real, yoga hits like a drug & it’s all natural & something you create & sustain for yourself. Literally there is nothing better than that.

I am teaching SO MUCH virtually all summer through my own personal platform Journey Forward Yoga! I also teach in person at Hometown Sweat in Natick, MA - will be back there in August.

Can’t wait to flow with you! 😍
