It has been a significant period, and the successful reassembly and return to racing of the street stock at Riverhead Raceway has been a remarkable achievement. I extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the car's performance this evening. Special thanks are due to Rob Bader, the Joe Paprocky team, Ed for his invaluable assistance, and Frank Deveto for his presence in the pits.

Regarding the evening's events:
During practice, we recorded a lap time of 15.1 seconds, despite the car's suboptimal condition, which was the best available at the time. The vehicle exhibited a reluctance to accept throttle input. Consequently, I adapted a driving technique similar to that used in a go-kart, maintaining approximately 4,000 RPM as the optimal range. It is worth noting that the brakes experienced intermittent functionality. This issue will be addressed promptly.

The race itself was satisfactory, with consistent lap times in the 15-second range. However, due to multiple caution periods and the subsequent loss of the alternator belt, the car experienced a power loss, concluding our participation. This served as a valuable shakedown run, and we will now focus on enhancing the vehicle's speed.

Attached are photographs documenting the car's restoration process, from its initial state to its current condition, a project that commenced in May. My appreciation goes out to everyone involved in this endeavor.

The Checkered Flag flies for the 75 Most Impactful Drivers, the final five to be introduced. 75 in 25!

Tommy Washburn name sits on the Wall of Champions. A true Pioneer of Riverhead Raceway, taking the 1954 Modified Championship and later in 1965. 31 Modified wins to his name known for racing the Juke Box 10¢ ride. From the early days of the Raceway, Washburn left an impact!

Gary Winters has 17 wins at Riverhead and went back to back for the Modified Championship in the year 1962-1963. Gary was inducted on the Wall of Champions. Gary was also a journeyman, traveling to different tracks in his career with his famous 380 Modified. Was always a contender each week he raced at Riverhead and was a big fan favorite with his innovative Modifieds.

Ed Zwickel is known simply as "Bubba" , he took 2 Championships in the Blunderbusts, when the division was at its peak weekly. 12 Wins to his name and the Championships coming in 1996 and 1999. He would find himself behind the wheel of a Late Model., later in his career. Can't go without say his BBQ was a thing of Legends in the pits.

Chris Young has his name proudly on the Wall of Champions. Getting his start in the Figure 8;s, he mostly ran the famous Maverick #49 having 7 wins at Riverhead and won the Championships in the division, going back to back in 1976 and 1977. He raced many years in the NASCAR Tour Type Modifieds and gained the name "Mr Opening Night". In his career behind the wheel of the Modifieds had him winning 33 times,. His son races in the Modifieds and carrying on the Young Family name in racing.

Eric Zeh, known for always giving a hand to those around him in the pits, Eric really gotten it down on track at Riverhead, before he headed down South. Starting his career in karts at our track, he'd then moved up to the Chargers with 12 wins and became a 2 time Champion in 2013 and the following year 2014. He'd race Street Stocks winning the title in 2019 and had 9 wins. He'd race Blunderbust, taking 2 wins and in the Late Models with 4 wins. He'd findself racing in the NASCAR Tour Type Modifieds at Riverhead also, you can find him in the Carolinas now, behind the wheel of a Modified and still finding Victory Lane.

The White Flag is waving on the 75 Most Impactful Drivers.

Rusty Turbush, continuing the Turbush Family name is Rusty. Another smooth, keep calm type driver behind the wheel, he'd find Victory Lane 25 times in the Charger Division and taking the 2002 Championship. Rusty has found himself behind the wheel recently, racing with his son Brandon. He was inducted to the Wall of Champions. Him and brother Dan sit on the wall along with their pops, Charlie.

Frank Vigliarolo Jr. is a 2 time Modified Champion, going back to back in 1999-2000. Vigs influence and impact might have been even bigger in the pits with his team. He'd find success with Bear Motorsports team of Billy Callicchio, also finding it with his Frankie's Towing #5.

Robin Vollmoeller, a huge fan favorite in his dark blue #2 Street Stock from the days of Islip to racing at his home track of Riverhead with 30 Charger wins, some of those victories taking place when the class was known as the Novice and Bomber divisions. Vollmoeller also scored 16 wins in the class now known as the Late Models which previously ran under the Grand American & Street Stock banner. He also tallied a NASCAR Modified win and won several Truck Enduro features and helped shape the division that track sees today.. Robin's name is on our Wall of Champions.

Tommy Walkowiak “The Wildchild” Tommy Walkowaik scored his first of 63 Blunderbusts wins on June 30th, 2001 after spending several seasons competing in Spectator Drag, Car Rollover, 8-Cylinder Enduro and Demolition Derby events. It was during a Spectator Drag event that Walkowiak was dubbed “The Wildchild” as he competed in his candy apple red Corvette that was is in showroom condition, he won. Aside from his 63 career victories Walkowiak went on a championship run that found him winning five Blunderbust titles in six years, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 & 2011.

Joe Warren Jr. got his start in the go-kart ranks finding his way in multiple divisions from INEX Legends to Blunderbust, he'd woild find a lot of success in the 4/6 Cyl Enduros, claiming many wins and still is finding his way into the Enduros from time to time and will be threat for the "W". Joey, leads the Mini Stocks in all-time wins with 17 wins, taking the 2019 Championship and also in 2024. He's been known to still fly the Trinca symbol on his rides for late go-kart standout Jason Trinca. Also a huge influence on Joe was TK Tommy Kraft, Joe has paid tribute many time after q win, doing a burnout right where TK used to officiate the races. Joe would take the Figure 8 Championship in 2020. Joe now has a fleet of Mini Stocks, like his mentor did with the Figure 8s and has recently been racing in the Crate Modifieds
