Tykes Tykes Balance Bike Races are for children 18 months thru 5 years of age. Tykes helps them prepare to ride dirt bikes, & for the Horizon class. Duration of race.

Racer Information:
For children 18 months thru 5 years of age as of July 1st. Helmet & shoes are REQUIRED for any child participating. A parent or guardian must be present while racing. Each racer must have a permanent number plate. Extra number plates will be available for purchase on race day. Each racer must sign up to participate. Each racer will need a Tykes Competition Card. The 1st card wi

ll be free. In order to get the card they must provide proof of age. The card must be presented to sign up. Bike Information:
The kids can ride any type of Balance Bike they want, as long as they are no pedal balance bikes. Once a child receives a number in the balance bike program, they keep that number until they age out, or change numbers. Only then will their number be available for another child. Race Information:
Sign up will start at 4:15 P.M. near the start area of the Tykes’ course, & end at 4:45 P.M. Racers will need to arrive at least 15 minutes early to get lined up for the rider’s meeting. Riders meeting will begin at 4:50 P.M. Riders meetings will include:
National Anthem or Pledge of Allegiance. Description of flags. Answer any questions about the race.

**The races will begin at 5:00 P.M.**

Once the time changes the new start time will be announced prior to that race. There will be a $5 participation fee. ALL money collected will go back to the Tykes’ program, & the children. Trophies or awards will be presented right after the race.

Please remember all racers must have a number plate on their bike. If they have raced more than 2 races, they need a permanent number plate. 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

As the end of the season approaches we will start to prepare for the banquet. Each Tykes racer must race at least half of the VCHSS races in order to be recognized at the banquet. There are 14 races scheduled for the 2018 VCHSS season, therefore each racer must participate in 7 races to attend the banquet.

Tykes parents: Due to increased number of racers we have decided to start sign up earlier. We will now start sign up at 4:15 and we will still end sign up at 4:45. The riders meeting will begin at 4:50. The race will begin at 5:00. Please remember all racers must have a number plate on their bike, and if they have raced more than 2 races they need a permanent number plate.
