Like daughter, like mother.

Meghan's very first OCR was Midwest OCR 2024, and she has been hooked ever since. She's one of only a handful of people who have ever completed the Bearded Challenge, 3 laps of our 10K course, and she has done it at all three of our races.

This past race, she conquered Pac Man and Skeletor's Revenge for the first time, both on her first try. She loves coming back every year to see the progress and improvements she continues to make.

For two years, her mom, Tammy, followed her around as her personal race sherpa. Then she decided to join the fun. She planned on doing the 5K this past race, pushed herself to the 10K instead, and now she's aiming for 2 laps in 2027!

Mom and daughter, doing hard things together. We love to see it. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’ช

Keep showing up. Keep fighting. That's OCR Racer in Training

Manny is coming back for his 4th Midwest OCR, and every year he gives our course everything he has.

After his 10K Competitive lap, he typically grabs a ruck and heads right back out on course. Rain, mud, tough obstacles, it doesn't matter. Manny always shows up with a smile.

He's still chasing 100% obstacle completion, and he has his sights set on When Pegs Fly. ๐Ÿท The fight continues in 2027.

That's what grit looks like. You keep showing up and fighting until you get it.

Most people would call a 10K race with 30+ obstacles hard enough. Hansel said, "Let's add a lapโ€ฆ and a ruck."

Han El Capitan is coming back for his 4th Midwest OCR, and he has taken on both our 10K and the Bearded Challenge. To make it even harder, he typically does one of his laps as a ruck lap.

In 2026, he carried an extra 40 lbs on that ruck lap, and he still took on obstacles like Dragon's Back and the Warped Wall with it on his back. (ruckers are only required to do the crawls, balance, and carry obstacles.) Hansel just decided that wasn't enough.

And while Hansel is out there making things harder on himself, his wife is out on course with us too, volunteering as an obstacle marshal. Talk about a power couple. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช

Denny is coming back for his 4th year in the 10K Competitive division, and he has never once lost his band.

Even so, his favorite memories aren't about himself. At this past race he said he loved the energy when someone finally conquered When Pegs Fly. He also admits that if he hadn't watched Aliyah Emas Fitness Coach go through Axes and O's first, he might still be there trying to get thru it. ๐Ÿ˜‚

To denny PT solutions, that's the heart of OCR. Pushing yourself, cheering on everyone around you, and figuring out how to train smarter for next time.

By day, he's a physical therapist helping people get back to living pain-free. On race day, he's proof of what that looks like. If you're around the DeKalb, IL area, look him up.

Chris is a Marine, a lawyer, a dad, and one of our 4th year athletes, who makes the trip from Florida, every year to take on Midwest OCR.

Discipline, grit, and a no quit mindset show up in everything he does, on the course and off. And yes, he tells dad jokes. Good ones? That's up for debate. ๐Ÿ˜‚

He's also known for helping other racers face their fears on course. As a lawyer, he knows how to make a convincing case, and he uses it to convince nervous racers they're braver than they think. As a Marine, leaving someone behind was never an option.

Thank you for your service, Christopher Hoover, and for making our course a better place for everyone on it.

The couple that does hard things together stays together. ๐Ÿ’™

Matthew Joseph and Emily Saitta have started every Midwest OCR side by side, and they've crossed every finish line the same way. Year 4, same plan.

Mud, walls, rigs, rain...they've faced it all as a team. And the strength they build on course carries into everything else.

If you want to build a stronger marriage, go do something hard together. Struggle together, push each other, celebrate together.

Michael has been hooked on OCR since his first Warrior Dash in 2011, and in 2027 he's coming back from Michigan for his 2nd Midwest OCR.

He says the rugged terrain and creative obstacles carry on the spirit of legendary OCRs like Indian Mud Run. His proudest moment? Finally getting to race at Cliffs Insane Terrain Park, a place with a storied history in OCR.

Our course challenged him, and he's coming back to the 10K Competitive ready to conquer more obstacles.

Fun fact: Mike Muday plays bass, and his high school metal band recently reunited for a couple of shows. In his words, he's "just a 50+ year old guy trying to stay young." OCR and metal, the perfect combo. ๐Ÿค˜
