Virginia War Memorial’s Veterans Day Student Essay Contest:

“A Virginian Who Served In The Military Who Inspires Me”

Virginia middle & high schoolers - public, private & homeschooled - are invited to submit a 500-750 word essay on any Virginian who served in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, anywhere in the world, from World War II to present day.

Monetary prizes will be given by the Military Order of the Purple Heart – Department of Virginia to the High School and Middle School winners.

All three games are at different times, so review the planner below and make your way to the ballpark!

-Friday, July 4th: 5:05pm (gates at 4pm), with the post-game city-wide firework show, which will be viewed from the parking lot

-Saturday, July 5th: 7:05pm (gates at 6pm), post-game fireworks (viewed in-stadium)

-Sunday, July 6th: 6:05pm (gates at 5pm), corduroy hat giveaway for the first 1,000 fans
