It can feel awkward, confusing, and maybe even downright intimidating starting something new.

But when you do it with a friend, it’s a lot easier.

Well consider me your friend.

Lucky you.

At least that’s what the people I pay say about me.

I host a community Qigong class every Monday from 2:00–3:00 PM at UUFF in Fredericksburg.

No registration.
No experience required.
No pressure.

Just gentle movement, breathwork, community, and a chance to reconnect with yourself.

You’ll leave feeling clearer, calmer, and more energized in a grounded sort of way.

If you’ve been curious, this is your sign.

Come join us.

If afternoons don’t work for you, let us know what would.

If childcare is the thing holding you back, tell us that too.

We’d love to better understand what would help more people participate.

Join us Monday or comment with what would make attending easier for you.

What if the reason you keep starting over isn’t because you’re lazy?

What if it’s because you’re trying to do something that was never meant to be done alone?

Whether it’s exercise, nutrition, stress management, sleep, or simply making yourself a priority again, support matters.

A friend.
A class.
A community.
A coach.
A practitioner.

Sometimes one supportive person changes everything.

If you’ve been trying to do everything through willpower alone, this may be your reminder.

Comment below: What kind of support would make the biggest difference in your life right now?

Today is my mother’s birthday, and lucky for me I’ll be spending a few days with her this week in Fredericksburg doing whatever the heck we feel like.

And yes, likely with a little holistic wellness mixed in.

As I think about aging, wellness, and how we learn throughout life, I realize just how much I’ve learned from my mother and how much she learned from hers.

With each generation, some things get passed down.

The good habits.
The lessons learned.
The things that truly work.

One thing I’m especially grateful for? Mindfulness and meditation.

My mom started talking to me about those things in my late 20s.

I did what most kids do. “Oh sure mom…”

Then she gave me a meditation book one Christmas and for whatever reason, I was finally ready to listen.

It’s a reminder that wellness isn’t something we figure out alone.

From my grandmother, to my mother, to me, and now from me to you:

You’re not alone in this journey.

Share with us - What’s something someone taught you that you weren’t open to at first…but now you can’t stop talking about?

What’s something you know now that you wish you’d known then?

And if someone needs to hear this today, share it.

Feeling easily frustrated, angry, or overwhelmed lately? Trouble sleeping?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Liver 2 is a point traditionally used to support stress, frustration, emotional tension, and restlessness.

Try this simple evening reset tonight:

• Apply gentle direct pressure to the point for about 30 seconds
• Use your thumb or even the eraser end of a pencil
• Then massage in small circular motions for another 30–60 seconds

Simple practices can sometimes create meaningful shifts.

Try it out and tell us — was the spot tender?

Behind every Memorial Day is someone deeply loved and deeply missed.

Today we remember with honor those who served and sacrificed, and we also recognize the families, friends, and generations forever impacted by that sacrifice.

At Yes to Holistic Health, we talk a lot about living fully, intentionally, and in connection with what matters most.

Sometimes honoring someone’s life looks like slowing down enough to be present with the people you love.

Taking care of your body.
Going outside.
Breathing deeper.
Choosing connection over rushing.
Living in a way that reminds you life is precious.

We’d be honored to hear who you’re remembering today, and how you’re choosing to live well in their honor.

Please share in the comments if you’d like.

A special thank you to Dargis and the Northern Virginia Veterans Association for their wellness support to veterans and military families.

Yesterday we talked about the signs you may be pushing too hard lately…and honestly, Memorial weekend can become one more thing we rush through.

Let nature give you permission to still thyself…and yes I said “thyself” – I’m feeling a bit low key poetic today.

Seriously though – I’m issuing you a challenge…

And I know you can do this – it doesn’t matter if you’re at the start of your day or you are waist deep in the lunacy of trying to get to the people, clean up after the people or cook for the people

The challenge is – when you finish reading this go sit somewhere you can see some nature – take a deep breath and let it out – get quiet and take a few more breaths and just pause, that shift you feel – it’s the PRESENT, welcome my friend

Here is why it works.
Nature never rushes from growth into full bloom without first allowing energy to circulate and settle.

Our body needs a little of that too….especially at the end of Spring

A pause.
A reset.
A little less pressure to “do it all.”

I daresay that OFTEN the most productive thing we can do is slow down long enough to actually feel present in our lives again.

Come back after your challenge and share a picture of that little slice of nature you managed to find.
